Twin pram recommendations

I have seen and like the icandy orange. However with the current situation i am unable to travel far to have a look at it and compare with other similar prams like the peach and the egg both i also like. My partner is 6ft so i need one with an extendable handle.

What twin pram do you have?
Ps i can't have a side by side as I don't drive and sometimes need to get on the bus. Im in the UK Manchester area if you have recommendations of where might have these prams in store.

Thank you.

I have an I candy peach which we love for my singleton so have purchased an extra seat for the new baby to make it a double. They are sturdy, look lovey and are easy to push, husband also likes that the handle can change hight
Hopefully Someone with twins will be able to offer more tailored advice

I don’t have twins but a small age gap- we have a Phil and Ted Dot which worked well for us. I didn’t want a side by side either, and it’s much nippier that a lot of single prams.

There’s some annoying features, but they’ve fixed everything about it that pisses me off about ours with the most recent model. It was also much cheaper than the Egg/ iCandy etc.

Honestly I don’t think there’s any “perfect” double pram out there, you always have to make compromises with them due to the limitations of carrying twice the amount of children in them 😂

I have the peach, with twins (11months tomorrow) and it is great for us. I love the fact on the orange you can have them facing each other, which the peach can’t. My husband is also over 6ft and I am 5ft3 and we both use it equally well. It is also sturdy enough that I can walk my dog - a border collie - at the same time and it not be pulled over!

It fits everywhere I need it to apart from my front door (we have a double front door so it’s two smaller doors than an average front door, a fact I didn’t know until I tried to fit the pram through without opening both doors).

Winstanleys Pram World (out near Wigan) is really good. I’m in Lancashire and had a trip out to look but ultimately bought second hand, in a near immaculate condition from another twin mum.

I found twin iCandy hard to manoeuvre. The toddler in the front seat means all the weight is over / in front of the front wheels so it's hard to tip to go up the kerb etc.

I know you didn't like the idea of side by side, but the Mountain Buggy Duet is no wider than a single (the back wheel width was almost exactly the same as my single iCandy Apple). Take a look online - there are lots of video reviews etc. I loved ours (and took it on the bus often).

I don't have twins but small gap, had the egg double and hated that I couldn't see the 'bottom' baby as DS was preemie. We swapped to a bugaboo donkey which may be too big for you but I did like the mountain buggy duet which is much narrower and Phil and teds which I can't remember the name of.

I had the Mountain Buggy Duet and although it's a side by side it's fine on buses. I used to take it on buses regularly, from double dockers down to those ones which are little more than minibuses and you can manoeuvre it in fine. Fits through most single doorways too.

Not for twins but for various combinations of 3dcs at different ages, we had the mini citi jogger double. Very easy to put up / put down, highly manoeuvrable and also narrow enough that you don't feel like you're hogging the pavements.

I’ve got the icandy orange! I absolutely love it! My boys are 17 months apart and it’s perfect. Sometimes the eldest uses the buggy board which is the perfect size for little toddler feet. The basket is huge when using only one seat.
It’s sturdy, easy to push and the adjustable handle is great. My DH is 6 foot 3 and finds it no problem. Folds up well too! I would definitely recommend it.

SendHelp30 · 29/12/2020 22:15

Oh and John Lewis sell them!

SendHelp30 · 29/12/2020 22:15

I had the egg as a single with DS1 and found it much flimsier than the orange

MRC20 · 29/12/2020 22:19

I know you don't want a side by side but take a look at the bugaboo donkey, I used it for my twins and it's only a little wider than a single. I've been able to get it in everywhere I've tried with no issues. I'm sure it would go on a bus but I've not tried.

Uppababy Vista is amazing! Absolutely loved mine and highly recommend it to everyone!

Butterflies13 · 29/12/2020 23:11

Uppababy vista here. I had a small age gap and it’s perfect- long adjustable handle bar, good on all terrain, massive basket!

Carrive · 29/12/2020 23:41

Mountain Buggy Duet fan here also - very narrow and really easy to push and a lot easier to push than my single Bugabo Bee. I’m a city liver and walk everywhere and this buggy glides over all terrain and up kerbs with such ease it is hard to believe. It is mid range price wise and sits nicely at my back door. Big basket beneath also. Not parent facing when babies are out of their carry cots and into seats but that did not bother me as there is a window in the seat hoods to keep and eye on them. It also has a bar across which I like.

SquirtleSquad · 29/12/2020 23:54

We had the bugaboo donkey for
Our twins and I absolutely bloody love it! (Use it in single mode now for DC3).
My parents hated it though and rave about their grandparent pushchair (out and about).

Bugaboo better for about town and the out and about it better for days out/beach/walking

Itmaybeus · 30/12/2020 00:08

Can't recommend a brand as my dt are now 11 however I can say think about weight - a heavy pushchair plus 2 toddlers will be very difficult to push. Also leg room for the twin that sits in the back.
I ended up buying a light weight side by side for grandparents /days when we needed something light weight.

ivfbeenbusy · 30/12/2020 00:35

I've got the silver cross wave - not sure I'd take on bus though - even though it's a "double decker" pram it's still pretty big

The newer model has parent-facing seats for small babies (the carrycots convert into a seat).
