Hello,

Just out of curiosity really and I don't know if I'm being paranoid, they really know how to scare you Blush

I never did. Mine all were plenty active. Especially when I wanted to sleep. Sorry not much help.

Babamamasheep · 29/12/2020 17:21

@Worriedandabitscared 4, I was told if it got to 5 times I’d need to see a consultant and that it ruled out being able to go to the standalone midwife unit. Baby was early anyway so it wasn't that big a deal in the end

porcelinaofthevastoceanss · 29/12/2020 17:22

Multiple times with both - my placenta was at the front so harder to feel movements sometimes. Please don’t hesitate to get checked out if you’re worried about resized movements - and always get checked even if you feel baby move around again on your arrival at hospital - it’s so important to get checked over and the midwives wild much rather see a healthy baby worrying mum than a very poorly one. Not to scare you but my baby was delivered by c section due to reduced movements and feral growth concerns. Don’t worry about covid either - maternity units are being very careful.

porcelinaofthevastoceanss · 29/12/2020 17:23

Reduced, not resized.

Twickerhun · 29/12/2020 17:23

Once in two pregnancies. It’s a very variable thing tho

AliceMcK · 29/12/2020 17:24

One with #3

I barely felt 1 & 2 as they liked to hide at the back. I would watch then during ultrasounds doing summersaults but couldn’t feel them.

If you have tried your usual tricks, lying down, drinking a very cold drink and anything else that gets them going, chocolate would kickstart mine, than get checked out, don’t worry about being overly cautious, it’s your baby and you need peace of mind x

BiggerTallerFaster · 29/12/2020 17:25

Never, but I never had any reason to.

kittenpeak · 29/12/2020 17:33

3 times already and I’m only 30 weeks (first pregnancy). I have an anterior placenta though and will go days without feeling anything, and other days it will be extremely weak. I’ve expressed concern that they will induce me if I go in again, and they’ve assured me that is not the case, mainly because it’s expected because of the placenta and my reasons for going in already down to the anxiety / the unknown, and it’s clear nothing is wrong with the baby. They explained the further along you get, once the baby is bigger, and you’re still going in for reduced movements, that when they need to consider induction / c-section. Early on, the visits don’t “count”.

As other PPs have said, if you have any concerns whatsoever just go in. It’s irrelevant what our experiences are. They would rather see you 100 times than 0. Having said that, being able to go in whenever you want my feed your anxiety - it’s important you get to know patterns.

I'm 35 weeks and I just don't feel like I've felt him move today, I've had a bath and he's usually active so I thought I'd have a fizzy drink and some tea and lie down for half an hour and see what happens - it'll be my fourth time Blush he's been fine all other times though, but I don't wanna ignore it and he not be okay if that makes sense x

@Worriedandabitscared 10 times for my first (I'm currently 16 weeks with second) I was induced and had a emcs in the end- she was sitting on her cord!

MaryShelley1818 · 29/12/2020 17:49

Zero....currently 33+4 with second baby. I found babies have busy days and quiet days just like grown ups. I have an anterior placenta this time so movement's feel different and more muted than my first but I'm pretty good at feeling what their normal is.

Rubyredroo · 29/12/2020 17:51

Twice and then got induced and emergency section.

If your movements are reduced please get checked out, as a healthcare professional myself I promise you they won't care how many times you've been there and things have been fine.

Puddlelane123 · 29/12/2020 18:08

Multiple times with first (maybe 6?) and by the end I was having daily ctgs. I did have an anterior placenta but by 32 weeks plus the obstetrician felt that that in itself didnt explain my very minimal movements. I was eventually induced at 38 weeks because of this and apart from a smaller than average baby no reason for the lack of movements was ever found. Second baby I had a posterior placenta but had similarly reduced movements towards the end. I was well aware that once I had gone in 4 times I would be advised to have an induction, but I never let that stop me going in. Induction wasnt ideal but put bluntly I’d much rather have an induction than live with the guilt of not flagging up concerns about reduced movements. It may well be that my babies are just not movers and shakers as it were, but I’d never take a chance however many times I needed to go in.

JanewaysBun · 29/12/2020 18:09

1st pregnancy maybe 4? Second time once

Babyjune21 · 29/12/2020 18:10

4 times x

Oct18mummy · 29/12/2020 18:11

Twice. Please don’t feel like a burden, if you feel unsure call the ward and tell them. Even if it is just to put your mind at rest please do this

chaosisaladder · 29/12/2020 18:12

Lots! Can’t remember how much but definitely more than 3 times in both pregnancies. Both babies had to come a bit earlier (37w or just after) for different reasons. Get it checked out - they are more than happy to do it for you!

Puddlelane123 · 29/12/2020 18:13

Also some babies never fall into a convenient pattern of movements. So much is made of getting to know what is normal for you / them, but both my babies failed to show any sort of routine or pattern. And I think that made it harder - ie I never had the thought of ‘oh i haven’t felt anything in 5 hrs but this is their daily quiet time so not to worry’ - movements were always so random.

Sausagessizzling · 29/12/2020 18:18

4 times for me.
Please don't hesitate. Two of my friends had emergency c sections because they went in for reduced movement and baby was in trouble.
Doesn't bear thinking about what could have happened if they hadn't gone.

shhsecretsquirrel · 29/12/2020 18:21

Only once but it was when we had plans so one of those should I / shouldn't I times. You should definitely not hesitate for a moment though for reduced movements, especially as you've done what you would usually expect to get baby going.

Beach11 · 29/12/2020 18:25

Twice & ended up getting induced.
Please go in if you feel something is wrong. X

kittenpeak · 29/12/2020 19:09

@Worriedandabitscared oh bless you. It’s a horrible feeling. Have some dinner, and if things haven’t changed give them a call and go in.

Depending on your thoughts on the matter, you might want to ask them about what this means for induction / c-section, and how many times you need to go in for RM before they’d consider this. For me, personally, I want to avoid being induced so if i went in I would make it clear that it was likely my anxiety / annoying placenta getting in the way and I wouldn’t want this episode to contribute to being induced (which they can’t force you to be). Just my thoughts on inductions, everyone is different.

You should go in though if you’re concerned.

Lottie917 · 29/12/2020 19:40

I've been in twice so far (1st pregnancy). Once at 27 weeks, again at 30 weeks. Currently 38 weeks and both times were fine, he was just being a snoozy/lazy boy I think Grin
The midwives at my day assessment unit and my community midwife who does my appointments have always said it's better to get checked out and that I did the right thing, so never feel like a burden or that you're being paranoid.

Rosalie009 · 29/12/2020 20:58

Once, which turned into an induction! If you don’t feel it’s right definitely go and get checked out!

shhsecretsquirrel · 30/12/2020 23:13

Hope you're getting on ok x
