Back to back baby with hand up over the head, so I spent the whole labour standing up and gave birth standing, leaning forward on the wall. Back to back slowed it down for sure because I have fast labours, so slowing down was a good thing which made it more manageable and I actually experienced contractions as one, then a short break, then another. I haven’t had that sensation in any other labour, my others felt much more like one massive continuous contraction until the babies were born. As a result back to back felt more relaxed and comfortable, at a pace I could get my head around. This back to back baby was born in 2.5 hours and I had no tears or damage. I did have a baby who permanently had their hand up on the tip of their head for months afterward though, apparently that was just comfortable for them.....

2 DDs both back to back 9lbs and massive heads - was fine just had gas and air - gave birth on all fours slung over a bean bag with my arse in the air, glamorous times Grin

DD1 was back to back. She turned during Labour. 19 hours, only gas and air needed. She was eight pounds and 12 ounces as well!! It was painful on my back compared to DD2 but not that bad really.

When I was pregnant during one of my last visits the midwife said the baby was back to back but the baby will probably turn. I didn't give it any more thought. A couple of minutes after my son was born the midwife said oh - it's back to back. I hadn't realised until then. It was more painful than my first but it didn't last too long. I went to hospital at about 3:00am ish and he was born at 8:15am. The worst thing was the piles I got afterwards, but they sorted themselves out before too long.

I hope everything goes well for you.

DC2 was back to back, midwives couldn’t believe I wasn’t in more pain. I used a TENs from v early labour which I guess may have masked it, it was certainly v effective for me. I labour long and slow but it was marginally quicker than my first.
Home birth, no complications for me or baby. Actually quite enjoyed that birth!

Were any of your back to back babies due to anterior placenta??

Queenbee95 · 31/12/2020 16:41

@LayingLow my first was posterior, second anterior

DS was back to back and he arrived quickly with no pain relief - no bravery here, just a fear of vomit and the risk of any pain relief options making me vomit so chose pain over that!! It hurt but I was expecting it to. It was over quickly and I soon put it to the back of my mind and got on with being a mummy.
