Hair dye!

Hello,

I've found out yesterday I'm pregnant and obviously over the moon.

I dye my own hair and I have heard it is bad to do so in the first trimester?

Can anyone recommend any natural hair dye they have used during this time? (To avoid awful roots!)

Thanks all Smile

I dont think there is evidence to show it is bad in the first trimester. NHS just says some women choose to wait until after the first 12 weeks - it doesn't say you need to wait.

I just used root spray.

I think hair dye that doesn't involve bleaching is fine. Just have to be careful with the fumes, open windows when you are applying

Thank you, I think I agree it's probably fine just airing on the side of caution I guess!

Root spray sounds like a good idea.

I was blonde when I fell pregnant - knowing I couldn't bleach my roots I decided to go brown for my pregnancy
I spoke to my midwife who said as long as I wasn't bleaching , wore gloves , ventilated the room well , it was fine to do so
I'm 33 weeks pregnant & ive dyed my hair once & that was probably around the 9 week mark

You can use bleach or hair dye. Nothing says bleach is prohibited

You just need to be careful as you can become more sensitive while pregnant so just make sure you do the skin patch test. Otherwise there’s not enough of the chemicals absorbed to affect pregnancy

Thank you everyone very helpful Smile
