Had a completely not thinking moment and just had a large piece of uncooked Brie. I'm 24 weeks pregnant and really kicking myself now. Anyone else done similar whilst pregnant and everything been ok?

You will be fine, it’s usually risky when eaten in huge quantities x one piece is nothing x

SexyGiraffe · 27/12/2020 22:17

You'll be absolutely fine, OP. Millions of French women are too.

President Brie is pasteurised so think it’s ok? Worth checking if what you had was pasteurised. . But if you feel fine then shouldn’t be an issue I don’t think

My midwife told me not to worry about brie if I'd bought it in a supermarket. The risks are very very low.

Here's what I posted on a similar thread recently:

I accidentally ate one half of a bacon and brie sandwich (completely forgot that I shouldn't), then went on to eat the other half when I realised (figured I might as well). It was absolutely fine.

It's unlikely you'd have listeriosis and not know as you'd feel like you have a stomach bug. NHS guidance says not to worry unless you have symptoms:www.nhs.uk/conditions/listeriosis/

Just to put things into perspective, think about how often you've eaten cheese, pate, etc. without becoming unwell afterwards... we wouldn't eat these things if we were constantly unwell as a result!

Since posting the above I've discovered that I'm pregnant and have already (forgetfully) eaten brie... seems to be a weakness! I'm not concerned about it, although I will do my best not to be so forgetful in future, just in case! It feels much easier to remember not to drink alcohol vs eating a usually common food item (for me)!

I’m 32 weeks and had some on a cracker earlier knowingly, it tasted lovely. I really couldn’t get worked up over a piece of cheese! Stressing over such little things is more likely to do harm than a slither of Brie.

Phewww thanks guys. It was made with pasteurised milk so that's a relief. I am just a massive worrier and tend to torture myself by reading scary things online! Will try to forget about it now and avoid Brie at all costs until next April!

The only concern is listeria. How many people have you ever heard of that have got listeria? From anything, let alone Brie?

@SexyGiraffe
Is right!

I am French, i eat Brie when i want because it is too good. 26w2 and never had an issue...

You will be ok 👌
