Induction tomorrow and starting to feel worried

I've been really chilled out the whole pregnancy but now I'm being induced tomorrow I feel like crying.
Feel emotional that this is my last day as a mum of one and hoping DD doesn't feel pushed out.
Feeling scared about what to expect with induction as my last birth was too quick for me to worry about what was happening.
Also been so busy with DD/Christmas etc that it hasn't really sunk in that I will actually have another baby.
I'm just having a bit of a moan really. But if anyone's got any tips for induction or what to take in with me it would be appreciated!

Oh good luck and I think nerves are perfectly normal if you went into this without nerves that would be more of a shock. Take stuff to do you may be quick but you may take ages. Anything to occupy you it can be so boring. Snacks and drinks also. But look forward to the baby snuggles after it’ll all be worth it.

Good luck! I agree with PP - snacks and Lucozade were essential for me! And a phone charger!

I'm 27wks on my first, so no advice on the situation.

It's normal to be nervous, you'll be stronger than you realise. You will adapt as a family, deep breaths and keep going Flowers

Be prepared for anything, when I went in there was a lady in the bed opposite me who had been induced the day before and nothing! I turned up and 3 hours later out popped the kid! In a way it was good as I was also super nervous and I just didn’t have time to react or do anything! It just happened so quick! Take lots of reading material to keep your mind occupied, headphones if you are on a busy ward and as soon as they offer pain killers, take them 😁. Good luck OP you will be fine! This was my second also.. had the same worries.. really did not need to worry! My DD 6 dotes on her sister and spends a lot of time also arguing with her ha ha.. having been a sibling this is all perfectly normal. We have the odd day where she pulls the mum guilt on me.. but I just smother her with kisses and hugs and explain that as a baby her sister needs more attention at the moment but that passes, fortunately she is old enough to get it. I also make sure I do 1 on 1 time with her. A huge good luck!!

Oops sorry 😂 thanks everyone I'm really hoping that its quick like my first one but fully preparing to be there for a couple of days! It's just fear of the unknown I think, and I don't know 100% what the rules are on DP staying etc because of Covid so I'm sure once I get there tomorrow and find out I'll feel a bit better.
Also, I'm constipated and have been trying my best to have a clear out before tomorrow but it's not happening! Now i think all the Weetabix and fresh orange I've been having is going to be disastrous tomorrow 😂😂

If your first was quick you've got more chance of your 2nd being quick 2.

I was induced with DC2. DC1 was quick, 12 hours from first twinge to in arms. DC2 was approx 24h from first gel dose to arrival. 1st gel did very little except make me too uncomfortable to sleep and to mean I had to wait an extra 4h for 2nd gel. 2nd gel kicked things off and DC was born around 12 hours after proper pains started.

Definitely bring things to do, mindless distractions better than something that needs your brain, but I did some cross stitch, Lego, crap games on my phone (bring a LONG charger). Headphones/earbuds to drown out other arrivals, people in labour swearing, general noise.

Snacks were more useful afterwards as the post labour night always feels long!

Being induced on Tuesday so feeling the nerves. This will be my 4th induction so I know it can take quite a while. Take plenty of snacks books (a pack of cards?) phone and charger crossword/puzzle books or
or put some games and apps on your phone maybe. Good luck!! Xx

Hello, I came in boxing day for induction. It was the pessary for 24 hours, then the hope of breaking my waters and doing the drip. I'm being induced at 37 weeks due to pre eclampsia and gestational diabetes.

Pessary came out at 1:30 this afternoon, but its not done enough to let them break my waters, so waiting on the dr to talk me through the next steps. Good luck with yours, the ward has been very quiet which is nice.

Good luck for yours tomorrow :)

Take lots of snacks, lucozade, phone charger.. the essentials really. Headphones are a must as well!

As for your DP, my DP wasn’t allowed in until I was in active labour and they kicked him out as soon as I moved up to the postnatal ward. This was in May though, so not sure what the restrictions are now.

Good luck!

I had an induction that ended in an emergency c section, so I'd say be prepared for anything. Main thing is to get your baby out at the end of the day. Hopefully you have a smooth labour but try and be okay with things going their own way.

shadesofcool · 28/12/2020 08:43

I was induced on a Tuesday and delivered on the Friday by EMCS so be prepared with lots of snacks and drinks (lucozade got me through!)! Although if your first baby arrived quick chances are your induction won’t take too long either (FTM here, hence the long induction!) good luck!

Twitchett22 · 28/12/2020 09:08

Thanks everyone! I feel a bit less nervous today, just gonna go with whatever happens with the only end goal of getting my girl out safely ☺️ (definitely praying for a quick one though 😂)

How are things going for you op xx

Twitchett22 · 28/12/2020 23:38

She's here! 4 hours from start of induction to birth, more painful than spontaneous labour but very quick and glad it's over! Xxx
