Is your bump uncomfortable to carry around?

I'm only 17 weeks and I've started to find that my bump is really uncomfortable to carry around especially after I get up in the morning or after a nap.
Apart from staying in bed, is there anything I can do to lessen the pain?

Wear lycra or similar supporting material round the bump

I am also 17 weeks and starting to find the bump a wee bit uncomfortable. I have bought a bump bra from JoJo Maman Bebe but haven't used it yet. Apparently at this stage in our pregnancies we may suffer from round ligaments and it is just our uteruses stretching our muscles around our tums. I find a warm bath helps or rubbing in coca butter.

Also lying on your left side is meant to ease any pain too.

Good luck x

Baby GaGa says:

This week, or in the coming weeks, you may be privy to the uncommon joys of ?round ligament pain.? These not-so-lovely symptoms can doctors advise sleeping on your left side as lying on your back can compress your pelvic veins, decreasing blood return to the lower half of your body include bellyaches, pain in the lower abdomen and sharp shooting and/or stabbing pains, most often expressed at the end of the day. Your suffering is due to stretched ligaments and muscles that support your ever-growing uterus. This is to be expected and is perfectly normal (especially since your uterus is only getting bigger!). Some doctors advise sleeping on your left side as lying on your back can compress your pelvic veins, decreasing blood return to the lower half of your body. Lying on your left side relieves this pressure thereby allowing normal blood flow. If this doesn?t do the trick, go ahead and consult your health care practitioner, but try not to punch them when they serenely tell you it?s normal to feel stabbing pain during this time. As we all know, violence never solves anything.

Oh, if you're feeling that type of pain:

I had really bad pains on my left side from around 14 weeks to 22 weeks. Everyone told me it was just ligaments stretching but when I went for my 20 week scan, the scanner woman said I had a big cyst on my ovary that was growing v fast, and that is what caused the pain. So see a doctor and make them check the pain out.

I loved my belly bra for a few weeks in my last pregnancy and anticipate buying another this time. I sold the last one on ebay - a very poplular item!

Thanks for the advice!

I'll go to my GP to be on the safe side, but it does sound like ligament pain. Trouble is that I try to sleep on my left side but I always end up on my back. Guess it's time to invest in one of those pregnancy pillows!
