Pregnancy and covid

Currently 16 weeks. Tier 4 area.

Dh and u have followed the rules to the letter pretty much since the first lockdown in March. I've wfh since then, dd(5) missed the last 4 months of nursery before starting school, have barely seen friends or family etc.

Dh can't work from home as his job involves him being out fixing things to keep infrastructure going (think road maintenance etc)

Dh tested positive for covid Christmas eve (test was then, got the results back yesterday!)

His whole workplace are pretty much down with it, it looks like one person on the team came in with cold symptoms and its ripped through the team

So far dh has lost his sense of taste and smell and is exhausted and struggling to get out of bed. No breathing problems yet.

He is now pretty much isolating in our spare room (also my office) but seen as he was probably contagious for a few days before with no symptoms I'm convinced I'm going to get it.

Wondering if anyone else has had covid while pregnant or has any advice!

I'm so sorry to hear that - and I don't have any experiences, but I have seen threads about this before - maybe have a little search? I'm sure you'll be okay as you're still quite early in the pregnancy. I'm worried about Covid too; sorry to hear you're facing this and wishing your family a swift recovery.

I don't have any experience but call your midwife for advice?

Hi OP:
There are a few threads on this. I’m pregnant. I had covid three weeks ago - I’m due May. I tested positive asymptomatically due to work. Never developed symptoms beyond a runny nose. My husband also tested positive, he developed cold symptoms but was well enough to wfh. We hadn’t self isolated from each other - as didn’t expect exposure and have an 11 month old (who was a nicu baba and technically vulnerable and tested negative throughout).

Haven’t been scanned post test yet, but baba seems to be doing fine (bump growing and can feel occasional movements, in line with expectations).

Midwives when I contacted them were not concerned. Just rearranged any/all appointments until 3 weeks post positive test.

Know it must be a scary time but hopefully you and your husband will stay well. I found reading the recent scientific data on pregnancy and covid helpful.

Thanks all, these are reassuring.

Should probably add I was quite anxious about covid before being pregnant so it's heightened it a bit.

Have spent today reading up and the consensus appears to be similar to the above so will just have to see how it goes.

Thanks again x

I tested positive last week after my partner did, I'm 24 weeks. It was for us 2 days of a bad cold/flu so lucky. 7 days later I don't have my sense of smell back but feeling well other than that.

I had covid and I was pregnant, early pregnancy I was on the 6 or 7th week. Do not worry and do not panic. Majority of people don't even have symptoms. I had a few lines of fever slightly lower than 38 degrees and just huge headaches and bone pains, my baby is totally fine. Covid has actually no effect to the baby, you only have to be careful in case of high fever but you can take paracetamol for that. Please don't worry,
