Whats everyone using for daytime sleeping?

Hey,

So I have no idea what to use for the baby to sleep downstairs. I don't really want a moses basket as I can't see us getting much use out of it.

Some of my friends and family have used the chico seats that are suitable from new born but I'm unsure on what's best to get.

Whats everyone else planning on using for downstairs/day time sleeping.

Our pram had a detachable carry cot so we used that a lot. We also had a cradle which you could rock, which was a hand-me-down, but didn't get tons of use out of it. Tbh as a small baby she mostly would only sleep on us and would wake if transferred so we usually just left her on us or moved her just off us on to the sofa. I think a lot of people spent most naps under 6 months trapped underneath their babe unfortunately!

I used a Tiny Love 3-in-1 Napper. Was great! Lasted us til 8mo then we passed it onto a friend for her newborn.

i’ve always had a moses basket downstairs (i have four kids) and i’ve always got loads of use out of them. newborns sleep a lot more than you think and unless you want to be holding them all the time they need to lie somewhere. i don’t know anyone who hasn’t used a moses basket downstairs actually. and i’ve never heard of anyone leaving their babies in car seats at home. you can also use the bouncy chairs but i didn’t put my kids in them until they were a couple of months old.

Planning on using the pram or lay flat bouncy chair downstairs x

I’m on baby #3... the only thing you need is yourself 😂 none of mine have ever been able to be put down. And now with this being my last, I don’t want to put him down.

Our nearly 4mo was either in the Moses basket in the pram. From really early on we made a conscious effort to have him sleeping not on us for two reasons. First, I was really anaemic after the birth and read the riot act by the midwives as it would have been dangerous for me to hold him for too long. Second, he was really bloody heavy and my back couldn’t cope with him spending all day in the sling.

However, my NCT friend had a tiny baby and she always sleeps on the sling. But now she’s running into the back pain issue.

We used the carry cot from the pram both times. We have an Uppababy Vista, and they sell a stand for the carry cot which is great. It's bigger than a Moses basket, so she still fits it at 6 months.

First baby was of the only slept on me variety, so used carriers for her while the pram sat there empty. Grin

We bought a chicco travel cot which has a detachable bassinet, it also has a changing mat facility on tbe top so comes in really handy..its quite big so does depend how much space you have!

theDudesmummy · 26/12/2020 14:18

We used ourselves (sling baby) or a big lounge cushion.

SpacePug · 26/12/2020 14:33

I used a travel cot in living room with DC1 and am using it again for DC2 due anytime now

MariaDingbat · 26/12/2020 14:50

We use the carrycot from the pram, but find she loves sleeping on a blanket on the sheepskin rug.

MaMaD1990 · 26/12/2020 14:55

We used either the pram or a sleepyhead. The sleepyhead is expensive but God was it a lifesaver!

Mimiwish · 26/12/2020 15:04

We live in a one-floor house - which I suppose makes things easier - all our bedrooms are off our lounge/diner. We've gone for a Snuzpod for our bedroom, which we could move easily. We have also purchased a Sleepyhead for supervised sleeping/ naps, though we will be taking care to watch her carefully. I guess if we find we do need a moses basket, we can get one. I'm especially thinking for when my partner is working from home in his office... But he seems to think it will be easy enough for him to take the top of the Snuzpod off and move it around the house. We'll see...

VeeVeeBee77 · 26/12/2020 19:10

Planning on using the carrycot from the pram, though we live in a flat so to use the actual cot won't be much effort either

Greengiraffe1 · 26/12/2020 20:10

My arms seems to be the prime sleeping spot. Other than that, the cot bit of the pram I have - also easy to push back and forth and giggle around if wriggling starts happening!

Blackbutterfly5 · 26/12/2020 20:48

We used a Moses basket downstairs with our first and it got used loads as he’d have long naps in it in the day. I think he preferred it to his Chico crib upstairs as it seamed cosier. I’ll be using it again with the 2nd.

BeautyAndTheBump1 · 26/12/2020 21:23

I brought a second hand sleepyhead off fb marketplace and it was a god send. Our front room isnt huge and with the graco glider and playmat in there wasnt much room left. He also napped in his glider and on his mat on the floor!

EithneBlue · 26/12/2020 22:24

I'm using a cheap Aldi moses basket - solid enough that I can let baby sleep in it and nap myself but portable (we have a 3 floor house) :-)
