Nervous 23 weeks

Hi everyone, just looking for some reassurance I suppose. FTM here, I'm 23.5 weeks and my bump isn't very big. I think I'm starting to feel tiny flutters, but it might just be gas. The 20 week scan went well but I'm just feeling nervous that something has gone wrong in the meantime.... it feels like they just leave you to your own devices after that scan since there isn't anyone checking in on me and I'm just worried. Did anyone else feel this way? Thanks a lot.

Hi OP,

24 weeks here.
My 20 week scan went well, but was told baby has an eccogenic(sp?) bowel.
I haven’t stopped worrying ever since and have been told I needed monthly growth scans.

I also have an anterior placenta l, so I cannot distinguish baby movements as much

I know all about the anxiety and the endless worrying so you’re not alone.
By 24 weeks, baby is considered ‘viable’, so take a deep breath and enjoy it 🙂🙂

I'm 24 weeks. Every 4 weeks I either have a scan or a midwife clinic appointment (no scans now though as over the 20 weeks). My midwife appointment is today. Is there no midwife for you to get in touch with to make sure you get regular clinics?

Luckily my GP practice is quite big so the clinic is there every week but I know midwife care can vary in different areas.

Also I totally understand the confusion between flutters or just gas. I'm also doubting the movement. Anxiousness is entirely normal in pregnancy. We already love our little ones so much we can't help but worry.

It's normal to feel anxious. When is your next midwife app? You should be seeing someone at 25 weeks. They normally measure and check heartbeat at these appointments which I always find reassuring.

Your bump could be small for lots of normal reasons such as having good stomach muscles or you are tall (more space for baby).

Thanks so much everyone. I am tall and lean so that is probably why the bump is small. Also have an anterior placenta (no one told me this, I only know from reading my antenatal reports) so that must be why my movements seem subdued. I think I have a phone call with the midwife at 24 weeks, not sure when I will see them in person again but I'll be sure to ask.

I would mention to the midwife that you aren't sure about movements at your 24 weeks appt.
Also have anterior placenta but been feeling proper kicks from 21.5 weeks.
If you are anxious also ask to be seen for a HB check with the doppler?
This is such an anxious time. I feel you. Hope everything is ok.
