So as the title says really. He normally moves loads when I wake up in the morning but nothing this morning. I’ve tried lying on my side, drinking a hot drink, drinking a cold drink, even prodded my stomach gently (as this normally makes him move) but nothing. Should I wait a little longer to see if I get any movement as it’s only early on in the day or should I phone straight away? Sorry if it’s a daft question but I never had this with DS1 and I’ve not been advised on what to do regarding movements. Thank you

Phone now, always best to be on the safe side. don't wait

TheFoz · 22/12/2020 11:37

If you’ve tried all the go to methods I’d phone. Have you eaten any chocolate or sweets?

Snackasaurus · 22/12/2020 11:38

I'd phone up for some reassurance. They do say from 28 weeks there is a pattern but I'm 35 weeks and still no pattern. Try not to worry but please phone up Xmas Smile

Mammyofasuperbaby · 22/12/2020 11:38

Phone now. Never wait if you are in doubt. The hospital would rather see you a million times, check and reassure you that everything is fine than have you not come in once and something bad has happened

MadeForThis · 22/12/2020 11:39

Phone and insist on going in.

NotThatKindOfDoctor · 22/12/2020 11:39

I agree with @boymum88. If you’ve tried everything that usually works, you should just phone. They are used to exactly this situation and they’ll be able to give you advice/check you over.

Rainbow0809 · 22/12/2020 11:41

@TheFoz Not had any chocolate or sweets yet but I’ll try that now and I’ll also phone triage. Thank you everyone

I'm 31 weeks with twins and mine have been quiet today too but it's usually Because I've been on my feet more and they don't really have much of a pattern especially if they have changed positions

MazDazzle · 22/12/2020 11:44

Get it checked.

I didn’t and it was the first sign that things weren’t quite right. Thankfully, my daughter was perfectly healthy, but I would advise anyone to call if they have concerns about lack of movement.

Rainbow0809 · 22/12/2020 11:45

Does it matter that I have an anterior placenta? I was told I may feel less movement and kicks may not be as strong but I’ve been surprised at just how much movement I have been feeling and the kicks have been pretty strong?

Please call the hospital.

Skybooks · 22/12/2020 11:47

If it doesn't feel normal to you always get checked over. Peace if mind is just as important.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 22/12/2020 11:48

I had anterior placenta with both of mine so didn't feel a lot of activity. But if you usually do and now you're not it needs checking fast. I would always sit for 5 mins and eat a Mars bar or drink coke and concentrate on whether I could feel movement if I wasn't sure. If you can't then you need to seek medical help without delay.

Shelby30 · 22/12/2020 11:58

No call straight away. I had this and I tried calling at 10am cldnt get through to anyone. Basically by the time I had spoken to relevant ppl and called a few hospitals to see who cld take, travelled to said hospitals and finally after waiting over an hour in waiting room it was about 3pm before I got hooked up to a machine.

Started feeling movement a little in the waiting room though and everything was fine in the end. They don't have any sort of priority list when he get to the hospital. Seems to be u wait ur turn which is terrible.

A friend waited a long long time and when she got hooked up to the machine there was no heartbeat, she was 37wks pregnant. Don't mean to scare u but don't take any chances, honestly.

Branleuse · 22/12/2020 12:01

Get it checked out. They do move less towards the end, as they have less room, but any reduced movement should be checked out.

ivfbeenbusy · 22/12/2020 12:03

@Rainbow0809

Yes the anterior placenta will make a difference- it's my twins have anterior placentas- sometimes kicks are really hard sometimes movement much more subtly - you'd be surprised how much it can change day to day just due a slight change in their position

Dspx · 22/12/2020 12:06

I always find something cold and sugary works have you got an ice lolly or
Anything like that, but like all the others have said def give the midwife a call xx

Fungster · 23/12/2020 11:21

How is everything, @Rainbow0809?

Rainbow0809 · 23/12/2020 11:33

Just before phoning triage he started moving (typical) but I still phoned them and they said they weren’t too concerned as I had felt him move now and they mentioned the fact that I have a anterior placenta. They said to keep an eye on his movements and to phone back if I get worried again. His movements seem normal again now so maybe he was just having a lazy morning🤷🏻‍♀️ Thanks for asking x

@Branleuse not true at all! They should move the same right up until birth! My consultant said any change in movements needs to be checked everytime!

countbackfromten · 23/12/2020 16:14

@Branleuse that is not true at all and please don’t spread things like that. Movements should be felt all the way through and it is so dangerous to tell pregnant women something different!!!

Always get checked out!!

Branleuse · 23/12/2020 17:46

ok, I actually said that it should be checked out, twice, in my short post, but i will reiterate, get it checked out
