Anyone else been induced after a previous very quick labour?

My previous labour was 2 hours start to finish, had baby at home in a very rushed panic with no help. So this time I'm booked for an induction to hopefully prevent that happening again (unless i go into labour before then) and I just wondered if anyone else has been in a similar situation? Did your body respond quickly to the induction like the previous labour or was it a long drawn out waiting game?

Hi, my first labour wasn’t quick by any means as my baby was back to back but when I was induced with my second, I had the pessary and went into full blown labour pretty much straight away (well, it fell out so once it was put back in I did). Apparently active labour was 43 minutes long, I think the pessary overstimulated my cervix because I didn’t get a break from contractions. It was all very quick but the midwives were on the ball so I suspect with your previous quick labour they’d keep a close eye on you.

Sorry my experience isn’t exactly like you were asking but just wanted to share anyway. I wasn’t expected my body to react so quickly to the induction pessary.

@Whatthedoodle that's good news! Were you past your due date? I didn't get a break from contractions in my first natural labour, the first one hit me like a truck then they didn't stop until she was born, so I'm hoping my body might react the same to the pessary but I don't know if that how it works 😬

@Twitchett22 I was induced at 39 weeks but I’d had a few sweeps on the run up and told my cervix was ‘favourable’. How many weeks will you be when you’re induced?

Hopefully it will be just as quick for you. I feel like if I can have a quick second labour after my looong first labour then anyone can! 😂

I'll be 3 days past my due date so hopefully my cervix will also be favourable 😂😂

Hi,

My first labour was similar to yours, around 2 hours from first contraction, luckily we made it to the hospital. Similarly my contractions were hard and fast with what felt like seconds In between.

Second time I was induced at 39+3 due to spd. I’d had 2 sweeps in the week leading up to up and another 2 whilst in hospital waiting for the pessary. It did nothing. I was already 3-4cms on admission. At that point they could have broken my waters but didn’t have the staff on labour ward so my husband was sent home for the night - I was absolutely beside myself thinking I’d go into labour and I’d have nobody there if it was as quick as the first. Midwife told me the next morning she was certain I’d have delivered through the night!! Anyway, 11am they broke my waters, contractions started after less than 2 minutes and she was out at 13.10 Smile and we were home by 8pm.

Hopefully yours will be as smooth as mine without the 24 hour delay due to staff levels.

Good luck x

@Larabelle6 thanks that sounds positive! It's a shame about the staffing but at least you weren't in labour for all that time. Fingers crossed I have a similar experience 😬
