Constant indigestion - 10 weeks

I am desperately needing some help or reassurance that this will eventually pass, as I currently don't know what to do with myself.

This is my second pregnancy, with my first I was sick until about 12 weeks and then poof gone.

With this pregnancy I had nausea the first few weeks and then also got something which I suspect might be indigestion (I have never had it before so not sure if this is what it feels like). My upper stomach is constantly hurting and I feel like I have food stuck there all the time (sorry for the poor description). The nausea is spelt going away as it did around the same time last pregnancy, but the indigestion is getting worse and worse.

It's all day. It doesn't matter if I eat or don't eat. Some foods make it worse and some are not as bad but either at it's always there and I don't know how to deal with it anymore.

Can someone please tell me it will go away soon? Haha.
Any medication that might work, or specific diet that might help?

I feel like I've tried everything and I am slowly starting to fear that I will be dealing with this for another 30 weeks.

Please help.

I am struggling with acid reflux and although it is utterly disgusting, I can recommend Gaviscon Advance. One teaspoon does it for me and I have to get it down in small sips because I find the consistency so vile but it does work.

No advice here but following with interest as I am also 10 weeks and in exactly the same boat.
I totally understand what you mean, I feel like any food just sits on my stomach for ages and ages, which is uncomfortable at best and painful at worst.
If I don’t eat then the nausea comes back with a vengeance.
I have found a bit of gentle exercise seems to ease it - literally just a walk, but I would also love any advice for something more long term!

20 weeks here and suffering also though I have a history of ibuprofen through the years to manage endometriosis so think I’m pretty susceptible now.

I do have some advise but honestly everyone is different and this could be totally useless:

  • tea/coffee - it’s the cruelest joke but it really is terrible for it
  • water and lots of it!
  • hot bath (not 100% reliable but sometimes helps!)
  • an exercise ball - bear with me! 10 minutes of bouncing, hip rocking and a quick circuit walk of the room then back to it. This quite literally cites me for days at a time!

Hope at least one of these suggestions help :)

Rooibos tea, lots of it. Safe during pregnancy and helped me with digestion big time x

Gaviscon. And watch whether a food is triggering it - with DS2 I developed a gluten intolerance. If I had a slice of toast, I had horrific indigestion all day.

@Santatizer I don't feel like it's acid reflux for me though. Do you think this will work for indigestion as well? My husband ha d a leftover gaviscon heartburn tablet, which I tried but it didn't make any difference.

@Tgilaura Its horrible, isn't it. I have found that one day certain foods are fine and then the next they don't work at all. So just can't figure it out.

And like you said it's either just uncomfortable or really painful. It's so hard especially having a toddler to take care of at the same time.

It would be so nice if there was at least an end in sight. But I have no clue how long it will last which makes it worse.

I try not eating for a bit as I thought empty stomach might make it better. But same as you the nausea comes back. Just can't win 😂

@HotDiggidy2017
Thanks for the advice. This is something I can try and see how it goes.

Luckily I'm not a tea/coffee drinker anyway. So that doesn't affect me that much.

I am quite bad at drinking water so need to up that.

Thinking about it I do have baths quite frequently and they do sooth it a little bit. But there only so many baths I can have a say 😂.

Lastly the exercise ball sounds interesting. Might give dog my old one out and give that a go. Thanks for the advice.

@mondray
Had a terrible night last night. Sad
My new strategy for today was that I didn’t eat at all this morning, (to make sure my stomach was totally empty) then I ve just had things I thought my stomach would find easy to digest, so I ve had yoghurt (also wondering if some probiotic bacteria might help???) and then I had a sandwich which I chewed loads before I swallowed each mouthful.
Will let you know how that goes but feeling a lot better so far today!

@Mammy20
I have never heard of rooibos tea. What does it taste like? I really struggle with black tea and anything that's not a fruit tea basically. Please tell me it's a fruity one. Would love to try if it works.

@DonaldTrumpsChopper
Second one mentioning gaviscon. Maybe it's worth trying it again in liquid from. Can't hurt.

Rooibos tea is naturally caffeine free and I don’t think it is classed as herbal tea either (it if also known as red bush tea). I only started drinking it during pregnancy myself, but I found it helped me with digestion as I had so bad digestion, felt constipated all the time, even ended up with getting piles ☹️, but after starting drinking rooibos tea constipation was gone. I just wish I started drinking it earlier. Also have been drinking mug of peppermint tea a day to deal with heartburn. I am not sure if it works for everyone, but seemed to help me. Sainsbury’s rooibos cocoa and coconut I found to be favourite. Tastes very soothing and not bitter, I drink it without milk personally, but you can add milk too @mondray . Hope it will help x
