No! Use a blanket!

NorthernLurker · 23/10/2007 14:47

no

IntergalacticWarlock · 23/10/2007 14:49

don't waste you money!

Blankets do just as well, IMHO, and if ort's cold in your car, put the heater on!

Spend the money on biscuits instead

Is this a piss take??

Why would you need a foot muff for your car seat???

bran · 23/10/2007 14:56

The trouble with a fitted foot muff in the car is that you wouldn't be able to take it off easily once the car has warmed up, so your baby might over-heat. If you tuck a blanket around him/her you can just pull it off if he/she is looking too warm. (You're allowed to ask silly questions before your first, ignore the rolling eyes. )

And you need much less 'stuff' than you think, if you need to ask if you need it you almost certainly don't.

Boogalooblue · 23/10/2007 14:58

Don't forget the sunshade and the raincover for the car seat as well

honeyapple · 23/10/2007 15:05

Hi Mrs- they do look sweet though dont they! I, even as a veteran was almost tempted... but NO... a blanket is much more sensible. Actually, I have a nice fleecy all in one thing which has a hole underneath the babies bum where you can put the car seat buckle... can be used in a buggy too therefore... I think it's made by buggy snuggle? Perfect for someone to buy you as a pressie! Make a list of things to suggest to people for gifts, otherwise you will end up with hundreds of things the same.

SqueeelyMeeely2 · 23/10/2007 15:05

use a blanket, we got footmuffs with our maclaren buggy, never used em.......

honeyapple · 23/10/2007 15:07

Booglaloo- cant tell if you are being sarastic! But maxi cosi baby seat comes with an integral sunshade! And I think a raincover is very useful myself...

MrsMcSpooky · 23/10/2007 16:29

Thanks for the helpful comments ladies I didn't think it was a necessity but I'm not even sure it's a nice to have now as that is a really good point a few of you made about the car getting hot sometimes as a first timer you are really not sure what is useful and what isn't hence the question - Honey thanks.

MrsMcSpooky

It depends how you are going to use your carseat - if only in the car then definitely not necessary as they will make baby too hot.
However if you have a travel system which you can put the carseat on and intend to use it a lot then a footmuff is useful. I did buy the maxi-cosi one as ds1 did not like being bundled into a snowsuit and then strapped into the carseat and i found it much easier.
I think buggy footmuffs would be too big and would have holes in the wrong places. A blanket would do the job for a younger baby but ds1 kicked them off as he got older.
Hope this helps

MrsMcSpooky · 24/10/2007 12:41

Thanks the one for the buggy might be too big then when the car seat is on the frame good to know that now.

To be honest, don;t bother with it, because by the time your baby is big enough for kicking off covers, he or she will be old enough to use the buggy (especially if, like mine, it lies flat) so there for old enough to use a proper fouutmuff.

I bought a fleecy blanket for the buggy (Ds1 was born in Dec) and I used to stuff it down the sides of the car seat so it was like he was in a little cocoon. That worked well
