1st Trimester sickness and dizziness making me miserable

Hi everyone,

This is my first pregnancy and I'm 7 weeks gone. All was well until about a week ago, I collapsed in my kitchen and was taken to A & E to be told low blood pressure was the cause. Since then, I have 24/7 nausea (no vomiting yet thankfully), constant dizziness and it's making me feel pretty miserable and not excited at all about this first pregnancy. I'm also sleeping a ridiculous amount!

I'm sure many other mums out there have gone through much worse than this, but I'm just looking to get some reassurance that it gets easier as I'm a right misery guts at the moment! 😒

Thanks x

Hi OP

Sorry to hear you have been poorly! I’m 11+2 and today is the first day I’ve just sat back and cried all day. Also my first pregnancy and although I am so happy and feel totally blessed, the constant sickness and tiredness is taking it’s toll.

Fingers crossed for the second trimester xx

Hey @July21Baby

Aww it's a rubbish feeling isn't it (the sickness, not being pregnant lol). I just feel like it's never going to end.

At least your edging closer to your 2nd trimester, crossing all fingers for you that it gets better soon! X

The first trimester is just utter shite... Weeks 7 - 10 tend to be the worst from my own experience and from what I read of others at the time. It seems like it goes on forever with the constant nausea but as long as you're not one of the unlucky lot it will end soon!! Cyclizine is often helpful and if you're struggling don't hesitate to ask your GP for something to ease it

Hi OP, poor you and sounds really horrible having to go to A&E.

I'm also 7 weeks and getting worn down by feeling constantly like I have a bad hangover. It's rubbish isn't it. I'm holding on to the fact that most people I know escaped morning sickness between 12-14 weeks. If it's true we're at least half way there!

I'm trying some pressure point wrist bands today (box actually says for motion and morning sickness), I saw another thread that said they helped with pregnancy sickness. I definitely felt less queasy this morning but it's creeping back in now. Will persevere and see if they help over the weekend. I'll let you know! Grin

Hang in there, hopefully you'll get through it soon Flowers

7 weeks is so bad for sickness. Mine went away in the 2nd trimester.
You can get meds which are safe so don't just suffer.
Congratulations. Xmas Smile

Gosh ladies it sucks. I've had loose poop and crazy colon cramps for over a week now. Not sure how much I can take- it's exhausting :(
Let me know how you are all doing x

pag2020 · 18/12/2020 20:12

Thanks everyone! It's reassuring to know I'm not going through this alone! 😁 @AlisonWhite - I have the opposite to you currently! I'm bunged up like mad!! 😭

I was really dizzy and sickness at that stage too. The dr prescribed me an antieemetic that helped with the dizzy and sickness. Worked for being dizzy but haf to be prescribed cyclizine for sickness. I felt the dizzyness was worse if i was too hot and it eventually went around week 11 for me

pag2020 · 18/12/2020 23:07

@Happy2be the dizziness is the worst part! Might have to pop to see my GP if you say they can give me something for it! crossing every single finger, toe..

@pag2020 how did you get on?

RachShad · 30/12/2020 10:35

Hey im currently nearly 12 weeks and I can sympathise with you in week 7 I honestly thought I was depressed! The nausea was literally unbareable, I was in and out of hospital too and medication just didn't work! It does get you so low, but I can tell you it does get better!! Week 11 i noticed it has eased alot and although I am not 100% now going into week 12 it has eased each day seems to be getting better. I have heard that by week 14 its normally gone. Hang in there it will start to get better x

jazzibelle · 30/12/2020 11:03

@pag2020 hang in there! Fingers crossed the symptoms ease up soon for you.

pag2020 · 30/12/2020 20:03

@Happy2be Thanks for checking in! I'm slowly getting over the nausea and coping quite well with that now. I'm pushing 9 weeks now so I'm feeling hopeful that it will soon vanish! I still can't shake off the tiredness and the odd dizzy spell and now I've got a new addition of sinus headaches! I feel like such a moany cow! The tiredness is really getting to me as I've gone from being very active (ran half marathons on weekends etc) to literally not moving from the sofa, scoffing jam donuts 🤣

I'm getting there though so I am feeling much more positive these last few days, thanks for asking 😊. How are you doing?

OP posts:
pag2020 · 30/12/2020 20:05

@RachShad yes! You've hit the nail on the head there, I also was suspicious that I was depressed or at least very low! It's rubbish but the nausea is starting to ease now. I appreciate your message! 😁😊

@jazzibelle thanks for your support. Hope to feel back to normal soon! 😊

@pag2020 sorry to hear, how unpleasant for you!

You’re not alone, the constant nausea coupled with constipation is exhausting enough... plus the actual exhaustion! I’m 7.5 weeks and have been given antiemetics, which stopped me vomiting but not the nausea and I felt like I’d taken a sleeping tablet.

Pregnancy is way more like hard work than I anticipated! But at least we all feel crap together... it’s meant to get better in a few weeks and I’m clinging on to that for my sanity...

Truly hope you feel better soon xx

pag2020 · 30/12/2020 22:02

@Thisisbananas3 honestly it's been a huge help for me to hear I'm not alone. Not that I wish this on anyone but it's reassuring to know that others are going through the same!

I felt at my worst around 7.5 weeks. I'm now at almost 9 weeks and I feel it's getting a bit better, almost manageable, but I'm still having like 5 naps a day! 🤣 hope yours will start to ease off soon! XX

@pag2020 agree with you it’s comfort to know you’re not alone- mainly because you seem to see pregnant women getting on with life and seeming to hide the sickness/fatigue very well, I wondered why I couldn’t- was I just useless? Then I was worried something was wrong.

Thank you, I hope so too and hope the same for you! There’s a light at the end of the tunnel! xx
