Too scared to take a test

I have a wonderful 3.5 year old, and a little 3.5 month old. I’m terrified I’m pregnant again and far too scared to take a test (I am a well eductated, 33 year old mother of two, so I know how silly that sounds). I don’t want another baby I’m exclusively breastfeeding so I haven’t had a period, but I have been feeling nauseous at times, which usually only happens when I’m pregnant. If I am pregnant, I don’t know how far along I’d be, but somewhere between 6-10 weeks I guess...

Did you have unprotected sex? Or do you think contraception possibly failed? Just take a test and get it over with instead of driving yourself mad

If you actually are pregnant, it's not going to go away if you don't test, and if you're ebf your period is unlikely to put you out of your misery.

There are lots of reasons you might feel nauseous, but you know you have to take a test. The sooner you take it, the sooner you can wrap your head around it if it's positive and the easier it will be to exercise your options if you don't want to go ahead.

Just go and get a test. You know it's the only way.

Yes. Take the test. Your symptoms could be your hormones settling down again. You need to know to give yourself plenty of thinking time if it is positive. Good luck.

It could be due to tiredness and hormones etc

I bought a test, I just can’t bring myself to do it. I sound like a ridiculous teenager. I really really don’t want another baby, and definitely not when I have a newborn already. But I’m also pretty sure I couldn’t do through with a termination. I know I just need to do the test...

Remember- knowing the outcome of the test, in good time, gives you options.

Linger over taking the test and you risk having choices taken out of your hands.

Aw honey, panic does funny things to us. Listen to your gut when that result pops up.

I took the test...it was negative. Panic over and lesson learnt!

Sounds like you could do with doubling up on contraception though, just in case!

@Respectabitch absolutely. I’ve been considering the coil for a while so might look into that a bit more. My 3.5 year old was conceived whilst on the pill and after I took emergency contraception (I’d only been on the pill a week so took it just to be on the safe side). She was a happy surprise though. I am happy with 2 so no more!

May be worth picking up some condoms til a more permanent or long term solution can be sorted (though we use condoms as a long term solution)

I get on great with the coil, fwiw. Set it and forget it and no effect on sex drive. I've used it for 10+ years. DH has also now had the snip. Also second condoms for right now until you can get some form of LARC.
