4 months since birth and still no sign of stomach muscles - how long did it take for you and how hard did you have to work???

DD is 2 and still no sign of them! (admittedly I haven't worked very hard on them)

NoviceKnitter · 22/10/2007 23:23

So do you, like me, nearly topple over everytime you try and get up from the floor???

My DS is nearly 17months old and DH said the other week

'you know you look as if you have just had him'

.......!!!!!

Chamomile · 22/10/2007 23:27

Are they meant to come back?
I didn't realise 19 months and counting!

LyraSilvertongue · 22/10/2007 23:27

They come back? My boys are 5 and 3 and there's no sign of them.

See, I didn't think I had any, but you sure miss a thing once it's gone...

Has ANYBODY re-found their stomach muscles??? Have we any hope???

pirategirl · 22/10/2007 23:39

i am an overweightish person, but my stomach is ok now, i mean, i can bend and everything, and stand up!! my dd is 5.
hth's???

CrookshanksinJimmyChoos · 22/10/2007 23:42

I think I read somewhere that they seperate out and exercise reforms them or something...

Did also watch a plastic surgery prog once where the Dr was doing stomach stapling and he said 'oh its easier as she hasn't had kids, thats the deal breaker'

Ah well, DS does love bashing my tummy and giggles when it wobbles so I'm just a lovely mummy for staying fat for DS's amusement - cheaper than going to ELC.....

Am afraid unless you start working your abs and do it day in day out, they will not get back in shape.
Good news is it only takes a few weeks to see results.

Ha. Ha ha. Ha ha ha ha ha.

Oh, I'm sorry was that a serious question?

beeper · 23/10/2007 13:47

NEVER. THEY ARE AWOL

cantgetcomfy · 23/10/2007 13:50

Mines have always been there - I just keep them very well hidden

MrsBadger · 23/10/2007 13:58

well I presume they are still in existence as my intestines haven't emptied themselves out onto the floor
but they are certainly keeping a low profile

NoviceKnitter · 23/10/2007 14:17

My intestines are being kept in by a layer of Green & Blacks sponsored fat.

NoviceKnitter - I know what you mean .

After about 6-8 months they were functional. I didn't do my back in lifting things anymore.

3 years later and you'd never have known I'd ever had a baby.

ScaryScaryNight · 23/10/2007 14:23

DS2 is 28 mts. think I shall be proud of my soft little Marilyn Monroe tummy ...

NoNameToday · 23/10/2007 14:32

Anyone care to enlighten me what stomach muscles are?

Then I can go and look for them

Kif · 23/10/2007 14:35

ha ha ha hah a ha ahahh ahhah

(rofl away down the hill)

NoNameToday · 23/10/2007 15:28

Must admit, when my daughter was toying with the idea of a belly button bar! I asked if they could put 4 either side of my (absent muscles)abdomen, longtitudinally of course and use a a leather lace to tighten said area!

No demand for this service alledgedly

SqueeelyMeeely2 · 23/10/2007 15:37

stomach muscles? what are they?

NoviceKnitter · 23/10/2007 16:11

Thank you Anna8888, for offering a bit of hope. I don't care if I stay a bit lardy in the midriff region - just would like to be able to get up from playing with DD on the floor without us both nearly crashing over!

OP posts:
Anna8888 · 23/10/2007 16:22

NoviceKnitter - even the lard will go . It really is true that your body spent 9 months getting out of shape and needs (at least) 9 months to get back into shape again.

LyraSilvertongue · 23/10/2007 19:05

A lot depends on how many babies you have. My stomach was ok after DS1 but DS2 was a baby too far. I'm working on getting them back now.
