Tested positive for COVID-19 - 34 weeks pregnant

Hiya,

I have tested positive for COVID-19, I got tested on Saturday and got my results late Sunday night. I am in Medway where cases are sky high currently! I had mild cold symptoms from Thursday last week and only got tested because my boss tested positive (I didn't have any of the "standard" symptoms, no temperature, no persistent cough and no loss of taste/smell). I spoke to my midwife on the phone on Monday, I was meant to have my 34wk appt with her on that day anyway but obviously couldn't attend. She said just to keep an eye on movements and as long as I don't feel really poorly, all should be ok. I am on fragmin for mild protein c deficiency (a blood clotting disorder) and aspirin. I am now isolating until Sunday, and have a routine scan booked for Monday, which is helpful as I'd be having kittens if I couldn't go to that either! I'm such a worrier and find it hard to believe that a virus as dangerous as we are constantly told this is won't harm the baby. It's been nearly a week since the onset of my symptoms and I have only just today lost my taste and smell, I still have moderate cold symptoms and don't seem to have got any worse yet. Has anyone else tested positive in the third trimester? What was the outcome and how long did you feel ill for?

Thank you x

I know someone who tested positive at about 36-37 weeks, she felt rotten for a couple of weeks but had a healthy baby at 39 weeks. I hope you feel better soon. The risks are tiny so try not to worry (easier said than done).

I know someone who only found out she had covid once she went in hospital to give birth, she was fine and her son was born covid free.

How are you feeling @MinnieMouse92? I’m 15 weeks and live in Kent and have had a positive lateral flow test yesterday through work. I’ve had a ‘proper’ test this morning but think it’s unlikely it will be anything other than positive. Same symptoms as you, head cold and sinusitis for a week (will currently be on day 6 of symptoms) and no fever cough or loss of taste or smell x

Hi @oep17 Smile not too bad now thank you, the cold side of it has gone mostly, I have now lost my sense of smell and taste and the cough has come out in the last 24hrs! I had the call from test and trace this morning to check all ok and to remind me that I can return to normal activity from tomorrow. I have checked and the cough can linger for ages, so it does say as long as I have isolated for the 10days and don't have a temperature, the cough and loss of taste are no reason so have to continue isolating, so I will go to my last scan appointment tomorrow as normal I suppose! I hope you're ok, I was told by my midwife the most important thing was to try and keep my temperature down, which to be honest I don't think I've had a temperature at all, but have been taking paracetamol just incase!
Hope you feel better soon xx
