Am I worrying unnecessarily?

Hi everyone,

Not sure if I am getting myself worked up over nothing.

28+3 weeks pregnant with DS2. While pregnant with DS1 it became apparent very quickly how active he was in the womb. Had the hiccups a couple of times and a si had an anterior placenta I attend the maternity assessment on a couple of occasions as I couldn't feel him move.
With DS2 he is just as active although I am starting to worry.

I was awake from 1.30am last night and the baby has not stopped moving this whole time. Mixture of hiccups (around 7 or 8 times in the last 24 hours) and just general movement. Around 4.30am this morning I tried calling the maternity assessment to see if this was normal. I couldn't get a hold of anyone and worked myself into a state of hysteria about it. Eventually after calling the switchboard I was put through (turns out the telephone number on Google and what my midwife gave me changed 8 weeks ago) she said absolutely nothing to worry about. It's fine for babies to have hiccups normally. Fine but I am still worrying. And can't help but think something is wrong. Probably now because Dr Google is saying there could be an issue with the cord.

Can anyone give reassurance or have I a reason to be concerned?

I'm not an expert and only 7 weeks pregnant with my first. Although I would say movement is good and I would worry if there was none... xx

Change in their pattern of movement should be checked.

I went in at 39 weeks with DD2 because, although I had felt her move, it wasn’t what I was used to. They monitored me for over an hour and were a bit concerned about both of our heart rates as they were quite high. They settled though and they were happy for me to leave after a doctor had reviewed the charts.

If you’re worried, ring again.

Phone again and stress that you need to be reviewed as the movement has changed.

Always get checked if you are concerned about movements. My younger DS had very odd juddery/startle movements in the womb that worried me a lot - he was fine but if you are worried, ask again that you are checked.

Thank you all for your replies.

In my previous pregnancy I did go up to be assessed due to reduced movements but now it's the opposite I am not quite sure. I have phoned them again and will see what they say when a midwife calls back.

I was just concerned in case it was anything to b worried about

I had exactly the same thing in my last pregnancy at around 28-30 weeks. One day he was going mental in my stomach and was kicking about loads. I was also told it was OK but still went in just to be checked.
They did say that it felt like he had actually turned head down, so this could have explained loads of movement during that particular day.

I had increased movements with my second around the same gestation. MAU wouldn't see me so I ended up booking a private scan and it turned out he'd turned from breech to head down which explained the movement. Nhs said increased movements is not a concern as an unwell baby wouldn't have the energy to move so much. Having said that I wouldn't not call if you're concerned as you know your baby best!
