I feel like I can only eat cold sour fresh food with simple flavours such as cold salads. What do you eat when you feel nauseous during pregnancy?

AurorasGingerbreadHouse · 11/12/2020 22:55

Crackers, biscuits, toast

MrsSugar · 11/12/2020 23:05

Something dry... rich tea biscuits, toast etc.
Nothing spicy, saucy or wet and on truly dire nausea/sick days stuff that doesn’t taste that bad on the way back up Blush

I'm really similar to you. Often some grapes or clementines will do the the trick and some salads but only with a non creamy dressing. Sometimes first thing some dry crackers to ease that morning empty hunger pang.

I've not been able to stomach anything with lots of herbs, spices or sauces. I find I'm generally not nauseous for breakfast and lunch but as it gets to the evening around 5ish I suddenly lose my appetite for most of the evening, can barely eat dinner even if I thought it was something I fancied, but then around 10pm I feel fine again and need snacks ASAP. Just demolished a big bowl of grapes!

Generally felt nauseous and horrible if I got hungry so moved to little and often. Oat biscuits were good, with a bit of crunchy peanut butter really helped to get to the next meal. Craved salads and fresh food which was great as got hideous heartburn when the extra weight eventually kicked in.

Lemonade with ice and salted crisps.

kittenpeak · 11/12/2020 23:33

Apple or ginger beer

PurplePansy05 · 11/12/2020 23:34

Anything beige and dry. Cheese rolls, cheese crackers or plain crackers in particular.

justasking111 · 11/12/2020 23:35

jacobs crackers, digestive biscuits, sips of water. Clementines and strawberries. Weirdly dinner time the smell of some foods when preparing it meant I could not eat.

PurplePansy05 · 11/12/2020 23:35

Thanks for the Marmite suggestion, that will be my next go to tomorrow!

AurorasGingerbreadHouse · 11/12/2020 23:51

I could eat berries and grapes but they had to be frozen. Also half thawed mango and pineapple from the freezer.

I also could only really drink sour drinks like still cloudy lemonade or black tea with lemon in it. Also iced tea, and cola (with lots of ice in it so it was no longer fizzy).

Weirdly though, every evening I would crave a big plate of vegetables (usually green things and some sweetcorn), Yorkshire puddings and instant gravy. Or pasta with marmite and Grated cheese.

AurorasGingerbreadHouse · 11/12/2020 23:55

If heartburn is not a problem yet, then I found vinegary things were great. Gherkins, pickled onions, pickled beetroot, cockles, mussels, pickled eggs. All cold and sour. Not for everyone I know! I also used to get cheap hot dogs and eat these cold from the fridge.

I found my food mostly had to be basically frozen (and my drinks too!)

Chips and bread...very healthy!

GlitterBiatch · 12/12/2020 00:00

I had HG for my entire pregnancy - When I could eat the only things I could really keep down/stomach were watermelons, cucumber, cheap chocolate mouse, plain pasta with a bit of butter melted and stirred in, the cheapest supermarket cheese and tomato pizza, banana milkshake, cloudy apple juice and 7up.
Not the healthiest diet but it was at the stage of whatever I could eat no matter how unhealthy was needed!

tofuschnitzel · 12/12/2020 00:07

Salted crisps are my go to for nausea. My GP recommended eating little and often throughout the day so as not to have an empty stomach. I eat half a packet of crisps, then have the other half a bit later, until I feel able to eat something more substantial. Toast with butter and Marmite is also helping at the moment.

ttcchapter1 · 12/12/2020 00:07

Ice lollies!

AurorasGingerbreadHouse · 12/12/2020 00:11

@GlitterBiatch

Not dissimilar to mine, the whole 9 months too! Although I stoped being sick so much by the third trimester. I couldn't drink water and only ate one meal a day. I had to take antiemetics just to keep my folic acid tablet down. Awful! But I must be crazy because I did it 3x !

howmanyroads · 12/12/2020 09:43

Crackers and monster munch
