Hiya,
I’m 11 weeks pregnant and I keep having really bad crying spells that last around an hour. I’m so scared that I’ve increased my chances of miscarriage.
Any advice would be appreciated

Relax, hormones are high at this point and crying is normal. Baby will be fine, if you're concerned about anything please give your midwife a call. Congratulations and good luck Thanks

I suffer from anxiety and depression and cry a lot. I do the best I can but I'm not going to be able to recover from a condition I've had for 20+ years and been receiving treatment for overnight. I am sick of people telling me that "worrying isn't good for you or the baby" as if I'll suddenly realise and be fixed. It actually makes me angry that people have so little understanding of mental health issues but feel free to opine on them. As far as I can tell the vast majority of pregnant women worry and many of us cry - poor design with all those hormones! You're not the only one feeling this way and most pregnancies are successful. Research on anxiety and miscarriage is also far from conclusive - you can usually find research showing increased risk for almost anything. There is research showing risk from things like hair dye, busy roads, raw pineapple and moisturiser. I always think that as a natural worrier maybe that is increasing my risk very slightly but I am also avoiding all of those things that other women do without even thinking that probably increases their risk by the same tiny amount. At 11 weeks you are past the most dangerous point - it is highly unlikely that you will miscarry now. And if you did it would probably be for another reason. Babies are resilient! I'm 23 weeks and have had crying fits, and panic attacks during my PG and expect I will have more despite my best efforts. LO seems fine.

Thank you so much for the replies, I feel a bit better about it all.

I wasn't a worrier before I got pregnant but now worry about everything. I sometimes feel like my stress levels are through the roof. I'm 30+3 weeks now and everythings been ok so far, pregnancy is a stressful time. I'd just say talk to people about it, that generally helps me to calm down and stops my thought process running away with itself.
