Flu Vaccine - any side effects?

My GP surgery rang to book me into the next flu clinic that they are running. This happens to be a couple of days before Christmas! I am just wondering if any of you suffered any side effects from getting this injection as I don't really want to be sick/ill over Christmas, especially when I am the cook! Lol! Thank you in advance.

I had mine 2 weeks ago and had none apart from an achy arm.

HappydaysArehere · 10/12/2020 10:27

Had them for years. No effects at all.

wimbler · 10/12/2020 10:28

No side effects here just a slight bruised feeling in my upper arm.

Wednesday89 · 10/12/2020 10:29

Just an achy arm.

Palmtree3 · 10/12/2020 10:31

I just had an achy arm which disappeared after a day.

Snackasaurus · 10/12/2020 10:31

I had cold like symptoms (runny nose etc) but felt absolutely fine in myself Smile

ArmchairCritics · 10/12/2020 10:34

Have also always been fine apart from a sore arm - both while pregnant and not.

DecTheTreeTime · 10/12/2020 10:37

Had no side effects from mine.

oldermama2021 · 10/12/2020 12:30

Thank you all for your replies - that is reassuring that it doesn't seem to give any nasty side effects....I can cope with a sore arm. I just didn't want to be ill over Christmas! Thank you.

No side effects for me too Smile

myhobbyisouting · 10/12/2020 12:41

Nope, never had any side effects

Bumble84 · 10/12/2020 12:50

Slightly sore arm but strangely less sore this year than previously when I’ve not been pregnant, maybe my other pregnancy aches and pains have toughened me up!

You can’t get ill from the flu jab because it’s not a live vaccine (only the kids nasal spray is live) so it’s impossible to get a mild case of the flu from it. Bit of a common misconception

TheDaydreamBelievers · 10/12/2020 12:54

Zero symptoms, have had it both when pregnant and when not

TheMostHappy · 10/12/2020 12:59

No just ached a bit where it was injected

BeRealisticPlease · 10/12/2020 13:42

Bruised and achy arm however my DH (who rarely falls ill) did end up feeling quite under the weather when he had his done. It was more like cold symptoms coupled with fatigue. We were glamping down south then during the summer time so it werent the greatest of experiences for him. You should be fine either way!

DinosaurGrrrrr · 10/12/2020 13:44

Someone I work with had it last week and needed 3 days off work after it, we are working from home and she lives alone, she said herself it must have been the jab (we work in public health and it’s v much promoted to us). I refused it, working from home I don’t really see the point in potentially being unwell when the chances of catching it are low for me I barely leave the house at the moment (there are also less cases in the population anyway, less mixing, better hygiene and masks). I’d hold off until after Christmas if I was you, not worth it.

"Someone I work with had it last week and needed 3 days off work after it"

Grin massive chancer. Bet she got all her wrapping done though!
