Okay ladies, I’m pregnant for Christmas and need a list of delicious cheese I can still enjoy. A good cheeseboard is genuinely one of my favourite parts of Christmas and I’m already gutted I’ll have to do without the port...

Found out today I can have Boursin, which is good.

Most hard cheeses are fine aren’t they, but I’m mourning the loss of Brie 😭

Also believe I can have Camembert as long as it’s cooked, which is fine by me so a dipping Camembert it is.

I got some Wensleydale with cranberries today. Any other good suggestions? I love all kinds of cheese but especially creamy ones which is unfortunate as most of them are mould-ripened... oh Brie how I miss there!

@SaveWaterDrinkGin
How funny..... I'm literally placing an order with the Fine Cheese Company (Bath).. on their website each cheese says whether a pregnant lady can eat it or not!
I have Brie, but I just heat it..
Such a big struggle..! X

You can have hard blue cheese e.g. Stilton. Soft blue and mould ripened cheeses are all ok if cooked

Wow @cat709 great tip on the Bath Cheese Co, thank you!

I found a brie made with pasteurized milk. Not in UK but it was imported from France. I am sure you can find it in UK somewhere :)

dementedpixie · 09/12/2020 20:10

Even if its pasteurised brie you should still only eat it if you heat it as there is still a risk due to the higher moisture content. Conversley you can eat unpasteurised hard cheeses due to the low moisture content

thefishthatcouldwish · 09/12/2020 20:13

Marks and Spencer and Waitrose both do pasteurised Brie so you could have that.

thefishthatcouldwish · 09/12/2020 20:17

That said just looked at nhs website and not sure you can have Brie except cooked

dementedpixie · 09/12/2020 20:20

Pasteurised brie still needs to be heated if eating while pregnant.

SunnySideUp2020 · 09/12/2020 20:32

Oopsie. I didn't know that and been eating the pasteurized cheeses 😐
Thanks for the info, will be careful now

This is my kind of thread 😂 I’m a cheese lover anyway but since being pregnant it’s pretty much all I think about, the baby will probably come out like a block of cheddar 😂

I was so glad when my first baby came a week early so it meant I could devour the Christmas cheese board! I'll have to give the proper stinky ones a miss this year which I'm really sad about. I love all the mould ripened ones!

To others saying you can eat it if its pasteurised isn't correct - mould ripened cheese are a no no. The soft rind means listeria can grow.

Neals yard dairy also have a pregnancy safe selection!
