Prams!

Hi all, I am a clueless FTM and just had a look at prams online and now feel like my head may explode 🤯

Can I have some pram recommendations pls?

My main point is that I live up a flight of stairs, so need something lightweight that I can handle by myself. Ideally something sub £500 that will be good for a newborn and then a toddler.
Also I live in London so something small will be better for busses/tubes.

A friend has given us a car seat, so I think that will just live in the car so we don't need the whole travel system etc.

Babyzen yo-yo are quite light and fold up small, also good for public transport

Not sure if they're below £500 ... could probably find a deal after Christmas I suspect

I was actually just looking at that one!

It's a bit more expensive, but I am hoping to choose now and then snaffle the one I want in the January sales!

Joie Versatrax :)

Cybex Balios S / S Lux is worth a look as well (not the 2-in-1)

Maxi Cosi prams are great too and they still have 20% off from Black Friday, until 11th Dec I think.

Look at Zelia 2 / Adorra (Adorra isn't as light)

Babyjogger City Mini is also good, but you have to get the carrycot separately.

If I could get another pram I'd get a cosatto, they're so cheerful and you can get ones that fold into a briefcase size

Bugaboo bee if they are still around or a sling for the newborn stage then a baby jogger city mini. The one handed fold is brilliant I loved mine.
Really with that set up I'd be researching a carrier though will cut out a lot of the drama I promise.

Baby oyster come up dinky I quite fancied them too.
Avoid anything massive and if you're not driving all the time you don't need a travel system.

Babyzen yoyo would have been my suggestion too, v compact and light. They are over £500 with a carrycot though.

I’ve got a cosatto. It’s so lightweight and the design is lovely.

Babyzen YOYO, bugaboo bee, Joolz Hub, all perfect for city life and can be folded with seat unit which will be a lifesaver when getting on crowded public transport!
I had my first baby in London and now work for a nursery retailer so kind of know what you need!
Which car seat where you given? Most will be compatible withthese prams to turn into a travel system.
Hope that helps x

I have a babyzen and a bugaboo bee. We live in a flat in London too. As a pram, I much prefer the bugaboo especially for the period immediately after you move them from the bassinet because I don't like the idea of such a small baby facing away from me. Now DS is older, it's okay. That said, if I didn't have a lift in our building, I definitely would have just got the babyzen as it's much easier to fold and carry.

Take a look at these...
Basically a first stage car seat with wheels and frame that pop out at a touch. Today when I was out I saw someone with a Doona pram and asked them to demo it... brilliant!!!!! For cities and flats I think it's perfect.

The Mum who showed me said she's been stopped lots of times to be asked about it!

The Oyster 3 is really light and easy to fold. You can get it as a travel system with carrycot etc but the actual pushchair is suitable from birth when you lie it down. It folds so quickly and has a little handle to carry up and down stairs. It has foam wheels too instead of needing air pumped in so good for a city as the wheels won't pop. I think it's slightly smaller than other models so is very compact.

Have you though about buying one of the recommended prams above second hand and if you don't get on with it then you can sell it on?
I'm really gutted for you that places like mothercare have closed, as we went and tried out prams in store, but then picked up a second hand one for 1/6th price.
We loved it, but the plan was to sell on if we didn't get on with it.
Good luck and I hope you can find one that suits your needs, the pram we used was quite large and we store it in the garage so can't recommend anything that suits a flight of stairs.
