Hi

I’m new here but I’m desperate need of advice! I did a clear blue test 2.5 weeks ago, unsure of my previous period dates due to a miscarriage the month before. I went for a scan on 30th Nov saw what they thought was a tiny sac but weren’t 100% sure so did my hgc bloods which came back at 1064, they said this matched with what was seen on the scan, had more bloods Friday (4th dec) increase up to 1943hgc, repeated Sunday (6th dec) and it was 2275 hgc. I had a scan today and they are saying they can’t see anything in the tubes or womb, a small what could be sac in the womb but also might not be. They said pregnancy of unknown location. However hgc is increasing. They have said as they are yet to locate it they want to treat it as ectopic even though this hasn’t been confirmed! They want me to have an injection tomorrow to lose the pregnancy! I really don’t feel this is right and I just wanted to know if anything else had numbers of 2275 and couldn’t see anything, and what happened next? I’ve had zero bleeding or pain

Hi OP,

I had a scan super early in October last year and not much was seen but HCG increasing. Had regular scans and they could see something in womb but couldn't say that so it was called a pregnancy of unknown location and as my HCG had got quite high, they said it was an ectopic and I went for surgery to have a laparoscopy and tube removed. When I woke up they couldn't find an ectopic so didn't remove any tubes.

Eventually after a few more scans they saw a sac growing and it was called a blighted ovum.

Tricky situation as I know you probably don't want to have the injection incase it is a normal healthy pregnancy but also you don't want to leave it and end up unwell.

Hope you get some answers soon, will they be rescanning you? xx

Hi, thank you, that sounds very similar. I have today opted to wait a week, rescan and if it’s the same the have the laparoscopy in the hopes that it’s where it’s supposed to be. I’m just praying for a miracle! Xx

That's what I chose to do and I think it's the right thing. You don't want to rush into a decision and I've got everything crossed for you that you get a happy outcome xx

They just keep saying we see something in the womb but can’t confirm it’s a sac so put it as pregnancy in unknown location, then the consultant decided he was treating it as ectopic but I’ve decided what I want now so just have to wait, they are redoing bloods on Thursday so we will see what the hgc is then

I'm sorry to hear your worries.
The consultant is treating it as ectopic (or otherwise unviable) because you would be expecting the HCG to be nearly doubling every 48 hrs, and you are nowhere near that. The discussion boards at The ectopic Pregnancy Trust should provide more information.

Waiting is one possible route, however if you start feeling severe pain, please go to A&E immediately, and tell them you have a possible ectopic pregnancy. I walked into hospital at 4pm following blood results, was on morphine by 8, and in emergency surgery by 10pm. Hopefully it doesnt come to that, but just a warning.

I'm sorry, that's a really negative message. There is hope, even following an ectopic, if that's what you end up having-both my kids were conceived with just one tube following an ectopic.
