Vaping 0mg?

So I understand I’ll probably get judged for this but I’m just looking for advice first. So I’m 27 weeks pregnant and without going into too much detail, I’m extremely stressed at the moment. I did vape before I got pregnant and quit the moment I got my first positive. But as I said, I’m extremely stressed and all I can think of at the moment is picking up my vape again. I would get the nicotine free liquids😬?

I think it's also about what's in the liquids you would be inhaling ? There is no research into vaping in pregnancy, well not much, as it's unethical to test it on pregnant women

Well done for quitting btw! You've gone this far why give in now??

Stuck77 · 08/12/2020 09:23

@elsaesmeralda I did wonder that myself. Thank youSmile And I’m just not in a very good place at the moment and I feel like vaping would take the pressure off a little. I know I probably sound unreasonable but I just can’t get the urge to go awayHmm

I don't think nicotine is the only bad thing in vaping..... it's not like you're just inhaling water vapour.

Personally I would treat myself to something else. Your absolutely favourite chocolate? Even if it is a bit pricey?

Why would you start vaping when pregnant? How would you feel about yourself if you did?

And how will you feel about yourself when you successfully resist it, and don’t start again even though you’re really tempted?

Find other ways to manage the pressure, there are loads of other options. And if the cravings are so strong, see a hypnotherapist and you’ll find it easy not to go back to it.

I found some great information on this site...

smokefreeaction.org.uk/smokefree-nhs/smoking-in-pregnancy-challenge-group/smoking-in-pregnancy-challenge-group-resources/e-cigarettes-in-pregnancy/

I've been looking into the same thing as I vape as a replacement for smoking, there's not much evidence on vaping but it does say a lot of the adverse effects caused by smoking are from the toxins in tobacco and not necessarily the nicotine, and pregnant people can be put onto patches ect. Obviously theres no clear answer and not vaping or smoking is the ideal!

Nicotine free liquids are still harmful to you, I wouldn't want to deliberately put baby at risk and would find another way to de-stress.

The lungs are still exposed to chemicals, heating glycerol creates compounds that release formaldehyde which is a group 1 carcinogen.

Not much is known about the effect of vaping on babies because it's not really been researched. I'd strongly advise against it and maybe speak to your midwife for advice?

Vapes weren't a thing when I was pregnant, but by God there were times when I really wanted to smoke! A friend was training to be a counsellor when I was pregnant and she said that whilst the nicotine was indeed addictive, actually at the moments when I was really stressed it wasn't the cigarette itself that I wanted/needed, it was the 5 minutes peace it gave me, because I had to go outside and be away from everything/everyone. So during those moments I took myself off for an imaginary fag break and it actually really helped!

Also satsumas. Ate tons of those, because the peeling gave my hands something else to concentrate on.
Good luck Flowers
