"Feeling" of baby coming early

Shazzzzz · 02/12/2020 19:34

I say "early" im 37 weeks on Saturday so not early as such but has anyone just had a "feeling" they are not gonna make it to 40 weeks?

I dont think i have any overwhelming signs of labour yet... i get the odd period pain, sometimes intense pressure down below and a few Braxton hicks but thats it. I just cant shake the feeling of my baby coming before his due date🙈

Is anyone else the same or am i just wishful thinking? Being due boxing day i really want him here before!!

@Snowman2020 im quite big but i think thats due to the amniotic fluid, however they said he isnt small so who knows! I would be happy to go in labour anytime from next week as long as hes here at least a few days before Christmas 😂 if only you could just choose!!

Don't do it to yourself! I thought that and ds was induced at 41+3.it made the last few weeks sooo long

Shazzzzz · 03/12/2020 11:56

@AriesTheRam i really am just wishful thinking 😂 hopefully my begging next week persuades them haha!

Yes! At 37 weeks with my first (24 years ago) I said to dh I think this baby will come early. My waters broke an hour later.

Seeline · 03/12/2020 12:15

I was convinced my second would be 2 weeks early. Just had that feeling. That day passed. Due date passed. She arrived at 40+12. I felt as though I had had a 10 month pregnancy. The feeling that she was a girl was right though!

NameChange30 · 03/12/2020 12:22

Most probably wishful thinking.
If your first was born at 40+6 (with no interventions other than a sweep?) then statistically your second is likely to arrive around 40+1 although of course it could be any day up to 42 weeks or even beyond 🤷🏻‍♀️

FWIW my first was born at 41+4 (the waiting was torture) and second at 40+1 (earlier than I expected because of DC1).

Shazzzzz · 03/12/2020 13:11

@RuthW @Seeline i guess its just pot luck if you get it right then!🙈

@NameChange30 i actually went in labour at 40+4 but he was awkward and only arrived 2 days later! I will have take the consultant some chocolates to persuade her to induce me early 😂

I was wrong the other way... So convinced I'd go to 42 weeks, just 'knew' it, then they decided I would need induction at 40 weeks and I was worried because clearly it would be an awful, failed induction as I'd be nowhere near ready. When my waters broke and I went into labour at 39 weeks I was totally shocked, despite it being such a normal time for it, because I had 'known' it wouldn't happen!

ImaSababa · 03/12/2020 13:23

I had a feeling my DD (first baby) would come early, but I ended up being induced at 41 weeks.

Shazzzzz · 03/12/2020 13:28

@Hardbackwriter @ImaSababa im not too confident now then 🥺 oh well we will just have to see!

I was convinced my son would be early. It was definitely wishful thinking. 41+3

NameChange30 · 03/12/2020 13:41

Why would you ask for an induction if there was no medical need for it?!

Avoid induction unless there is a compelling medical reason to have one.

user1493413286 · 03/12/2020 13:45

I was convinced of this with DS; I had my c section booked for 39 weeks and was convinced he’d come before then but he didn’t so think it was just me. After he arrived I actually thought he probably wasn’t ready as he was so sleepy and suspected he’d have preferred to be over due.

Shazzzzz · 03/12/2020 13:45

@NameChange30 because i can and i want to avoid being in hospital on Christmas day that is why.

OP posts:
Shazzzzz · 03/12/2020 13:49

@user1493413286 depending on my scan anyway i may need to be induced so it all depends on what they say.

I really dont want to miss christmas with my son and some people may think its selfish but im hardly asking to be induced extremely early.

They wouldnt have offered me a sweep either if they thought it was going to do any harm 🤷🏽‍♀️

Good luck persuading a doctor to induce you just because you don't want to be in hospital on Christmas Day Hmm

You do realise that inductions and even sweeps do come with certain risks?! Sometimes the benefit outweighs the risk of course. But please do your research and make an informed decision.

Good luck Op! Everyone said my DD would come early (2nd) as I was high risk of pre term labour. She came at 37 weeks, sweep in the morning and that triggered labour. She arrived the next morning 🥰
My sweep was in anticipation of a planned indication later in the week as she was measuring on the smaller side.

Hopefully the sweep will do the trick for you! Fingers crossed

Changedmynameagain1 · 03/12/2020 14:33

*induction.

Ps I was ever so glad and jumped at the offer of an induction as her due date clashed with my sons first day at school.
Selfishly it worked really well and she came two weeks before.

Shazzzzz · 03/12/2020 16:16

@Changedmynameagain1 aw thank you! I just hope i do have him a little early! Things clash and although it cant be help sometimes its not convenient so if there is a way to avoid me going over i will jump at it! 😊

Me and they did! All three were ready during my 39 week! 38 weeks I could tell on the 3rd my cervix was widening!

NoNameIdeas · 03/12/2020 16:40

My first was 11 days over, was convinced they'd be early! I am currently 39+4 with number 2 and have been having lots of possible signs for the last couple of days but if they don't come on time eviction process starts on Monday (I'll be 40+1)!

SEP880 · 03/12/2020 18:30

We were convinced our baby would be early but not 40+3 and no signs yet ! I think the idea of the baby being ‘full term’ at 37 weeks lulled us into thinking ‘it could be any time’ completely forgetting that they say the term period is 37-42 weeks.

For me personally being convinced baby would be early has made the last few weeks, and certainly going overdue harder !

NameChange30 · 03/12/2020 18:42

IIRC I think the average for a FTM is 40+5. In France the due date is actually 41 weeks and not 40.
