Hey,

I’m just wondering what cream / oil everyone used to avoid / aid stretch marks and when they began to use it?

I’m 9 weeks pregnant with Baby #1.

Thank you x x

Hi @Vogue1992 I’m watching this treat to see if you get many recommendations.
I’m 13 weeks and have just bought this tummy rub butter and oil to try avoid stretch marks: www.mioskincare.co.uk/mama-mio.list
No idea if it’s going to work, but had some good reviews.
Keen to hear what others have done and if it’s working!??

Weleda pregnancy oil. 3 pregnancies now and no stretch marks, though they run in my family.

Koalabear23 · 30/11/2020 21:06

Wow that’s got great reviews online as well! I’ve ordered it to give it a try. Thank you, I hope it works :)

It can be genetic. However, the skin is the largest organ of the body and the first to suffer if we're not at optimum hydration.

So inside as well as out basically.

Sanch1 · 30/11/2020 21:28

Afraid to say you'll either get them or you won't no matter what you do as it's generic. I've never used anything on my belly and no stretch marks through 3 pregnancies. My friend got terrible ones despite all the lotions and potions!

Sanch1 · 30/11/2020 21:28

Genetic!

serialplanner · 30/11/2020 21:53

I have heard if you are gonna get them you will regardless but also a mum of two sets of twins swears by the Clarins tonic oil.

Sometimes it's just what makes you feel better.

Oneandabean · 30/11/2020 21:53

It’s genetic, stretch marks occur in the deeper layers of skin, well below what any creams or oils can reach. Creams can help with discomfort and itching but they won’t stop you getting them.

MaverickDanger · 30/11/2020 21:56

You can only keep your skin hydrated, nothing will stop stretch marks if you are going to get them.

I knew I would get them as I have them from puberty. So I’m quite glad I didn’t waste my money on loads of different potions.

They will fade over time & I’ll buy some silicone scar plasters which help.

I used both mio tummy rub butter and Waleda oil twice a day . Stretch marks still showed up at 36 weeks.

IamC · 30/11/2020 22:07

Stretch marks have well and truly hit me this last couple of weeks, but haven't pre-empted them with lotions and potions

Summerrp · 30/11/2020 22:31

I have used bio oil and coco butter twice a day from the start and I have them appearing under belly button at 30 weeks. Definitely unavoidable

What weeks did you get them? Are you a FTM? I am 25 weeks and nothing yet. I'm using some bio oil and but know it's genetic. I think I'm doing it for some weird peace of mind, and also to stay hydrated
peonyrose87 · 01/12/2020 06:43

I've been using bio oil and palmers stretch Mark cream for months now, I'm 28 weeks and stretch marks appeared last week. It's genetic!

IamC · 02/12/2020 08:40

@kittenpeak to be honest I'm not sure when they came in. I can't actually see them without a mirror 😂 I have them on my lower tummy and more annoyingly my thighs.

Hopefully they'll fade but I'm not going to lose sleep over them
