Window to the Womb Report - how detailed was yours?

Hi all, I had a private scan with Window to the Womb yesterday. I was happy with the scan and staff were very friendly but having received the report from the wellbeing check I'm a little disappointed to be honest. Half the page is just my details and my covid declaration, then at the bottom is a tiny box that literally just says Head: Observed, Amniotic fluid: Observed etc with no reference to the sonographer actually saying that things look ok, just that they saw them.

Given the website promises a detailed wellbeing report this doesn't feel like that at all, plus my (anxious) husband wasn't able to make it to the scan due to looking after our son. With the recent media coverage about private scan clinics not divulging seen health problems he's now thinking that the sonographer saw something was wrong and didn't want to commit it to paper. (He's not generally anxious but is worried about the pregnancy going wrong due to a health condition I have and him having a disabled sibling).

Before contacting WttW I was just wondering how much detail other people got in their report, obviously not the intimate details but just whether people had more than "observed"!

Thanks all Smile

That's all I got as well. Felt like a bit of a waste to be honest as I was only on the bed for a few minutes anyway. And somehow didn't notice that I chose a package that didn't include pictures, so cue hormonal bawling once I got back in the car.. Blush

I wouldn’t recommend window to the womb to anyone. The staff are friendly but the sonographers seem lazy and don’t seem invested in what they are doing . For example at my early scan I asked if the heartbeat was strong and his response was ‘it’s there’.I’d suggest visiting ultrasound direct (body bond) instead.

@mummabubs
Totally agree with you!
I asked the sonographer certain womb questions and she told me to save them for the nhs check. I then said that online it says you get reassurance and they said yes - it's the heartbeat.
There is absolutely nothing medical about it. Just heartbeat (and what's to say it's irregular or something wrong) and a scan pic.

No mine wasn’t detailed at all.
They seemed more geared up to you an “experience” e.g. gender reveal etc, rather than a clinical assessment.

Thanks all, that helps to clear it up for me. I emailed Window to the Womb saying I felt calling it a detailed report was misleading and they replied basically saying they were sorry I wasn't happy and that if I had any questions about my scan I should contact the clinic direct, so didn't actually address my point.

@addler I was only on the bed 5 minutes too but think it had implied this would be the case on the website so I felt a bit more prepared for that. Bless you re the photos, would they not add them on at an additional cost in the clinic? They seemed happy to try and flog me all sorts of extras when I was there!

I agree with you @Boredinthehouse12, the clinic was snazzy and staff were very friendly at reception and the scan assistant, the actual sonographer was very quick and practical about it all. Felt like I was a cog in a machine to them whereas for the rest of the experience it felt like what I expected with private healthcare. This is the first time I've ever had a private scan - I didn't have any with my first child and the only reason I had this really was because my NHS anomaly scan has been delayed a couple of weeks into January and I wanted reassurance before seeing family for Christmas (who haven't seen me since I found out I was pregnant due to Covid) and also because this time I wanted to know the gender so saw it as a Christmas present to myself!

I do think Window to the Womb misrepresent themselves slightly as being more able to discuss the medical side of things, but that's why I'm happy to trust the NHS with the main bulk of my care. I still maintain that "observed" doesn't constitute detailed!!

I used ultrasound direct for scans, and do get a proper report, I have a number of scans fir IVF purposes. All the soniographers are NHS staff and I've been referred back to my GP urgently when something concerning was found.

My daughter's baby had duodenal atresia diagnosed (correctly) at window to the womb.

They notified the hospital and she had an appointment there within 24 hrs. The sonographer, who worked for the NHS, also said she'd diagnosed a heart defect earlier that same day.

This was at 30 wks - this was not detected at previous scans because of the nature of the condition.
Thank goodness it was detected before the birth. My granddaughter is now thriving.

The hospital said that they probably get one case a year.

Whilst my daughter was in NICU with her baby another baby was admitted with this which was not detected before birth and the outcome was not good.

Maybe no news is good news?
