Am generally not sure what I'm doing with this whole pregnancy thing! (its my first, does it show???)

There is a possibilty I'll need a c/section due to low placenta BUT if it has shifted by next scan then I really should have worked out where to have the lo!

Am a wuss so not brave enough for home birth on my first (idea terrifies dp too) although I can see the benefits of own environment, midwives present throughout etc.

Had a scare last week (slight bleed) and found myself in St Michael's delivery suite, was not the cosiest environment and could hear a lady nearby in labour....

After that I had a chat to my widwife who said Southmead has a birthing suite which is much more homely/calm environment, and it does look much nicer, but if I need/want pethadrine or epidural will have to be moved to delivery suite anyway... how does anyone know these things in advance - I know I don't have the highest of pain thresholds but would try without hardcore pain relief unless it was toooo much...

Am nearer St Mick's than Southmead. Level of care seems similar.

How on earth has everyone else made these decisions, as far as I can tell all the rest of you with similar due dates have this done and dusted, hospital bag packed, pram purchased, nursery decorated...

we've only just bought our house and have just knocked a load of walls down - ripping bathroom out next week!

Sooo sorry long post am just having a major wobble xx

thanks for that loopymumsy, will try and calm down and look into stuff!

Maybe it will be easier after my 34 week scan as at the mo I don't know if my placenta is still low in which case prob no choice about c-section so simplifies the decision!

I'm having a homebirth but my midwife said if I did have to transfer Southmead would be preferable to St Michael's. She's an independent midwife so knows both.
