Can an internal examination bring on a miscarriage?

So I got a positive pregnancy test Monday 16th, and then tested a few days later, to get a lovely strong positive. Ive been trying for 6 long years, and when I say I was over the moon, thats an understatement. Until Wednesday when I started to pass brown blood. So I contacted my doctors and got an ultrasound yesterday, they couldn't find anything on the scan, on internally. So I was told to give bloods, and then returned 48hours later to give more to check my hcg levels were rising. and then a doctor wanted to examine me. So I was given an internal with a speculum and then the doctor used her fingers and pressed around ect. I woke early hours with heavy bleeding and pain. Absolutely devastated. But what I'm wandering is... could this have been caused by the doctors examination? Or is it just nature running its course? Also... is there any happy endings to my problem?

Sorry about your loss, it does sound like nature taking its course.

Sorry for you having to going through this, but to answer your question no it won’t cause the loss the embryo would be so small at this time it’s so protected. Also they also mainly do scans for early pregnancy with an internal scan they wouldn’t if this was a risk.

I thought so. I think I will still return tomorrow and have my bloods done, and speak with the doctors again. I genuinely thought it was my time. I am lucky enough to have my 6 year old. And he would make an amazing bug brother.

I'm really sorry OP. I had similar questions after an internal exam, spoke to a MW friend... no, it can't be that. I'm very sorry.

@essentialhummus thank you for your kind words xx

So sorry OP but the internal exam is very low risk and a routine procedure so very unlikely to be that. Hope you're okay, best of luck Flowers

Looks like I have miscarried, I am currently going for blood tests every 48 hours until my hcg levels stop rising.

That's crap OP. But unless you have significant cervical weakness an internal isn't going to cause miscarriage.
