I’m 8+1 today and have been feeling sick most of the time for the past few days. How long till I start feeling better?

Everyone is different so it's hard to say. I'm 11 weeks tomorrow and have been suffering from all day nausea. It started at 6 weeks and I had it all the time right up until a couple of days ago where I would say I feel 60% better. I'm still getting it a little bit but it's definitely improving.
Other women have it a good few weeks into the second trimester and some even longer.

I had the worse time of it too, and was constantly throwing up. Week 11 was when I started to feel better in that I was throwing up once a day or was feeling fine for a couple of days. And it gradually got better after that. I’m now week 21 and I last threw up 2 weeks ago!

Most people find it fades away in the early second trimester, that was the case for me both times. Some unlucky people do have it for longer though...

adogisforlife91 · 27/11/2020 14:54

I started all day nausea bang on 7 weeks. 10 weeks yesterday and it's eased the last few days, however I still feel 'off' and have quite strong food aversions

JemimaTiggywinkle · 27/11/2020 14:56

Mine went at 14 weeks.
Sorry to say that if you’ve only had it for a few days so far, it will probably get worse before it gets better.

Thank you everyone. Not my first pregnancy but just couldn’t remember the timescales. I do remember that with DS it was so horrible that I just wanted to give up at some point... I’ve had it for 2-3 weeks now but getting to the stage that it’s almost all the blooming time...

Up until week 14 it was background nausea 24/7 with waves where it was worse but no vomiting. Week 14-16 I had ok spells in between but was actually being sick daily. Week 17 now and although I still have some aversions to certain foods feeling generally better providing I eat regularly.
Eating regularly (like, hourly!) really does help.

Helenknowsbest · 27/11/2020 16:59

I'm 23 weeks pregnant and still being sick 3-4 times a day. Had hyperemesis so guess I'm just used to it. The general rule is that morning sickness will fade into second trimester

Wwydiywm · 27/11/2020 17:03

A doctor told me it tends to peak at week 10 which was certainly true with me.
Felt almost completely better at 17 weeks.
Its shit but doesn't last forever. Good luck

BecomeStronger · 27/11/2020 17:06

They usually say 12 weeks but with DS1 it was 5 months and with ds2 I was sick every single day of the pregnancy.

The good news is you get used to it. It becomes part of your day , like using the loo.

LouJ85 · 27/11/2020 19:47

I'm 20 weeks tomorrow and mine went away around 18 weeks. I was one of the less fortunate ones I think, most seem to settle by 12/13 weeks. Hope you feel better soon.

hobbyiscodefordogging · 27/11/2020 19:49

For me, it was when the baby was born. Both times.

Quail15 · 27/11/2020 19:51

I'm 19 weeks and still have episodes of nausea ( it is much better than it was between 8- 17 weeks though). It's starting to change now to constant heartburn which also makes me vomit 😐 it's such a 'lovely' experience.

hedgehogger1 · 27/11/2020 19:54

About 24 weeks, just as the SPD kicked in

Bellbell1199 · 27/11/2020 21:49

Mine went at 16 weeks last pregnancy, but a bit later this time, around 18 weeks.
Everyone is different though.
