Short/"incompetent" cervix - First stage of labour / general labour stories

Hi

I've been trawling through the short cervix club and google but not found too much info on this and wondered if anyone would be kind enough too share their experience...

I was found to have an incompetent cervix at my 20 week scan (measuring at 15mm with funnelling), had an emergency cerclage put in a couple days later, prescribed daily progesterone and bedrest.

To those who have experienced/ know of anyone with short cervix issues during pregnancy, did you find that the first stage of labour (dilating/effacing) was quite quick? - Hoping that would be a little silver lining to all this!

Any stories would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

Not me personally but a friend of mine had a stitch in due to similar issues stemming from multiple LETZ procedures on her cervix. She had the stitch taken out around 37 weeks I think and then went so overdue she actually had to be induced!

Hello. I have a short cervix. First baby arrives at 33 weeks - super fast labour, 6 hours from waters going to baby being born, actual labour was an hour and a half.

I was told I had an even higher risk with my second but now at almost 39 weeks and no sign of the little rascal making any exit.

I honestly think every baby and every pregnancy is different. Good luck though, take things easy and put yourself and your baby first. Fingers crossed your baby stays put as long as possible. X
