What week did you have the Harmony test performed in?

Just what really. What week did you have the Harmony (or equivalent) carried out in? I have booked this for 11+6 and just want to make sure the isn’t an optimal time. I.E. will something get missed doing the test so early?
Many thanks

I had mine at around 10/11 weeks and it was fine. I was told from 10 weeks so I am sure it will be ok

Congratulations!

11 weeks

Meomeomeo · 25/11/2020 12:12

I went in @10 weeks (I knew I was exactly 10 as I had an early scan 2 weeks prior that dated me 8 weeks. My baby was measured @9+5 so I came back 10+2. By this time, growth spurt put my baby @10+4. Anyhow, no issue with Harmony.
Basically they need the CRM to be around at least 32mm, preferably 35mm in order to have enough dna for result.
You should be fine @11+6

Honeydukesmum · 25/11/2020 12:16

12 plus 2 and then nhs scan 13 plus 1. I’d had a scan at 11 weeks so new date but took week to get appt at my chosen clinic ( one consultant working independently).

Thank you all so much.

I went at 11+5... they did a quick scan when I was there to check how far along I was, and turned out I was actually 12+3 though. You should be fine at 11+6

FraterculaArctica · 25/11/2020 13:01

10+0.

Picklybits · 25/11/2020 13:05

10w - found it was twins - if you call that favourable 🤣

Picklybits · 25/11/2020 19:17

Yes all mine were okay. Hope yours goes okay too Smile

10+1

What's the latest it's suggested to do a Harmony test and this is the same as the NIPT test right, just another name?

Also can I ask you guys what your reasons were for doing one, is it due to a high risk pregnancy for reasons like age etc, or just peace of mind?

As I was thinking to do one only if anything crops up on my 12 week scan or if my NT test shows high odds. So far I don't even have my NHS scan date yet and because my 12 weeks falls during Xmas week I doubt it will happen until 13 weeks at least. I do have a private scan at 10 weeks but after reading the alarming report on private scan centres I don't plan on trusting them to tell me anything more than if the baby is in the right place and has a heartbeat.

Currently I'm 7+5, first pregnancy so apologies if stupid questions. I'm 31 so not especially high risk age wise. The harmony test is around 400 quid where I am so just want to be sure its worth it.

Luckyelephant1 · 26/11/2020 17:53

Bump... Anyone?

ShelleyI83 · 26/11/2020 22:47

@Luckyelephant1 - I was low risk but 1 in 250 with my second daughter. I just felt more at ease having the test done and agreed if we had more children we’d book it straight away. I’m 32 and DH 37 so still quite young but we just feel happier doing the rest for reassurance hopefully. Good luck.

@Luckyelephant1 the harmony test is the branding/patenting of the NIPT, your blood samples get sent to the labs in the US where it was developed to screen all the three areas (downs, patau and Edwards). I'm 32 and this is my first, I guess I'm low risk but we feel the £400 early package is worth the money as we know what we would do if the results turn out to be bad news; something you should consider before going in to do this test. I want it done earlier so that the emotional attachment is less .. strong? Sorry I can't think of a better way to phrase it. I did an early reaaurance scan at 8 weeks already and there was a heartbeat and the scan will be when I'm just under 11. Also I heard that they are much more thorough (I am going to the fetal medicine centre on Harley Street)

Meomeomeo · 27/11/2020 09:49

We chose to do Harmony for assurance and I wanted to know as soon as possible so I tried to get Harmony done as early as 10 weeks. NHS screening is only about 80% accurate and many who were given high risk by NHS tested low risk with Harmony as NIPT looks at fetal dna.
We had ours done at Fetal Medicine Centre and the package came with the standard viability scan, the test itself and a 12 weeks nuchal scan. Honestly I got the results back before my NHS’ and the sonographer kept telling me, Harmony is superior and to trust Harmony if the NHS results differ. The scans at Fetal Medicine Centre are much more thorough as well and they walked us through everything as they checked things. Couldn’t recommend them more!

Luckyelephant1 · 27/11/2020 10:23

Thanks, really useful info. I think I probably will get it done as I'm the type who needs to know each and every little thing possible... I just need to figure out exactly when to book it! Will do a little research, I have heard so many recommendations for the Fetal Medicine Centre.

Meomeomeo · 27/11/2020 11:01

If possible, you should book for mid 10 weeks. There’s a good chance the results will be back before if not same time as your 12 weeks scan with NHS. Fetal medicine has the best service and package too.

FraterculaArctica · 27/11/2020 18:51

I chose to do Harmony as early as possible with DC1 because I was getting married at 17 weeks (fairly traditional large wedding) and my NHS test was scheduled for after 13 weeks, if there had been bad news (which wouldn't have been confirmed till more like 15 weeks) I wanted to know as soon as possible to have a chance to come to terms with it and make decisions before the week of our wedding. With DC2 and 3 - well, I was only getting older and it seemed silly not to do the same for all pregnancies. We wanted to have as much knowledge as we could as early as possible. Luckily all the tests went fine and came back low risk.
