Pram Recommendations

Hi, I'm looking for recommendations for a pram. I'm a bit early really to be buying one but with some great Black Friday deals on I thought I might aswell have a look.

We live in the countryside and have 2 dogs so we will be going lots of walks so need something quite sturdy for the country roads ideally.

We would also rather buy as a travel system with the car seat etc aswell if possible to get everything together. And not overly important but I would really like it in grey if we can find one suitable!

Thank you!

Guess it will depend on your budget but we have just put a deposit down on the Mamas & Papas Ocarro, the one that has the best black Friday offer at the moment happens to be grey Grin should be good for countryside walks and their bundles include car seats & bases. We went for the 6 piece bundle!

Oneandabean · 24/11/2020 14:04

Cosatto giggle quad is brilliant. Can get as a travel system and comes in a variety of patterns including a grey. British made and lovely

SunnySideUp2020 · 24/11/2020 14:05

We got cybex priam set with car seat and cot and all. In soho grey!
Not used yet as baby not due until spring... but heard good things.

DinosaurGrrrrr · 24/11/2020 14:11

I’d probably go for one with big wheels made for going off-road, we had a mountain buggy which was great, although if you are looking for a “pretty pram” it probably won’t fit your brief. I spent over a grand on a joolz and retired it after a year, the mountain buggy was far better in every practical sense, just not as pretty.

PrayingandHoping · 24/11/2020 14:17

Mountain Buggy Urban Jungle. Brilliant for countryside walks (have 2 dogs and a horse) and also round town.

I have a Cybex icloud which clips on

mariebaby3 · 24/11/2020 14:18

We went window shopping last weekend and fell in love with the Ocarro! Would def recommend taking a look and going to stores rather than picking it out online as we had two entirely different prams in mind and really disliked them when seeing them in real life

Lou98 · 24/11/2020 14:22

Thank you, will go have a look at these now.

Money not really an issue, happy to spend more for a good quality set.

Ideally it would also be good if the car seat could attach on to the base, as with living in the middle of nowhere to go anywhere (supermarket etc) we need to drive so would be ideal to not have to take the full pram for short journeys

@DinosaurGrrrrr @PrayingandHoping I have actually been looking at the mountain buggy as was one of the first to come up when I've been searching for ones good for country walks. Do they sell it as a travel system or just separates? I've been having a look but can't seem to find it as one bundle

@mariebaby3 that was our plan but unfortunately there aren't many baby shops around us and the ones that are close have just went in to level 4 lockdown (we're in Scotland) so can't get over to them just now

I'd definitely go with a three wheeler for the countryside. There is one people rave about on here...what the hell is it called..?

Looked it up! The Out and about Nipper 360.

Mynotsoperfectlittlefamily · 24/11/2020 14:33

Baby Jogger City Mini GT. Can be a travel system just get the adaptor to match the car seat. Fantastic prams it's the only thing my husband will publicly agree I was right about 🤣🤣

TotalBitch · 24/11/2020 14:38

I also had an Uppababy Vista, which was great and lasted years (two dcs). But it isn't three wheels and struggles in rougher terrain. I ended up buying a second pushchair for using on rough terrain with dc2, for this reason. The one I have is a Hauk.

PrayingandHoping · 24/11/2020 14:39

@Lou98 I think it depends on the store

I bought mine from a store called Groovystyle (the are an independent. Have a store in berkhamsted but also online) and they put it together as a travel system deal for me.

There are loads of options and extras with MB. That's another reason I like it so much. U build what u need

My brother had one that lasted all 3 of his kids.
So well made. Built to last

glasshalfsomething · 24/11/2020 14:40

Definitely Baby Jogger Citi Mini Gt. Ticks all your boxes; not as expensive as others and has a great resale value if you take care of it.

88bowie · 24/11/2020 14:50

I candy peach, we love ours had it for over two years still looks new and will be used for the new baby ( made so u can add another seat if need for 2nd child) , easy to push and steer

Superscientist · 24/11/2020 14:56

We bought ours second hand on ebay.

I spent about 3 weeks looking for the right pram, in a good condition and in the local area for a price we were willing to pay.

It was illuminating how different prams of a similar age looked, it was clear that some makes/prams are more robust than others! I would recommend looking in second hand sites as part of your research into prams. The comments can be helpful too, like if they always mention how handy it is that you can easily take off the wheels to fit it in the boot probably means you always have to take them off to get it in the boot!

PolarBearStrength · 24/11/2020 16:58

If you live in the country consider a good quality, ergonomic, soft structured sling.

We have an Out N About Nipper Sport. It’s great for runs and handles pretty much any terrain but doing stiles, gates, boggy ground, knee deep puddles etc. Is much easier with a sling. A sling is also much quicker than faffing around with car seats and travel systems in and out of the car for trips into shops etc. And if you drive most places you don’t really tend to need a massive shopping basket or anything like that.

Shmithecat2 · 24/11/2020 17:04

Another vote for the Baby Jogger CMGT. Brilliant pushchair. Only downside is, once the carry cot is outgrown, the seat only world faces. Other than that, its ability over most terrains, ease of fold (ridiculously easy, one motion, one hand), big basket, light push, adjustable handle bar, hand brake and no puncture wheels, it's pretty awesome. And it comes in grey.

Bootsray · 24/11/2020 17:09

Mountain buggy every time. I bought a secondhand urban jungle with cocoon carrycot and so happy with it. It goes well off road and neat enough to pop into town with.

Russianslice · 25/11/2020 10:46

I bought the mamas and papas ocarro, it was great. DS grew out of the baby bassinet within 3 months because he wanted to sit up and by 12 months, I wanted something easier to push and better off road, so I got the Mountain buggy. I would get the Ocarro again but would always buy second hand. X

MsChatterbox · 25/11/2020 10:53

I wouldn't base your choice around car seat attachment if you're in the countryside tbh. As most ideal for countryside wouldn't take one and when baby is a bit bigger it will be irrelevant anyway. Definitely go for a big 3 wheeled sporty buggy like the out n about or mountain. For quick trips where you don't want to take whole pram I would recommend a carrier!

PrayingandHoping · 25/11/2020 11:00

@MsChatterbox mountain buggies have car seat attachments so best of both worlds 👍

Mycrazylife85 · 25/11/2020 12:22

We went with the Mamas and Papas Flip XT3 as I found the Orraco just too heavy. It was lovely though but so so so heavy. I was advised many people come in for the lighter one after a year if they get the Orraco anyway. I love it but haven't tried it out with baby as I'm 37 +5.

We love rurally also. Too rural really for any buggy so we also got a sling. We really couldn't take any off road buggy out near us with the styes, hills, and bogs. Really, if you are able when the shops are open, go in and try them out. I was very taken by the Icandy Lime which was the lightest ever, but the latest is brand new and cost more than we wanted to spend really.

Mycrazylife85 · 25/11/2020 12:26

Styes 😂 or even stiles...

frolicmum · 25/11/2020 12:30

I loved our Joolz Day 3, I beliehe this is now the Joolz Day+, car seat does attach. We used it for 20 months, then moved on the to the Joolz Aer as I wanted a smaller model.
