Can't stop crying!

I'm only 8+4 and today and yesterday have have the most awful bouts of crying.
DH and I have been arguing a lot today and everything feels like it has just built up and up and now I'm left feeling like an empty crying mess. It doesn't feel like 'normal' crying if that makes sense, it feels very much like the kind I got before AF would arrive, although this is much worse!

Can anyone please reassure me that this is common and share any of their own experiences?? I just feel so teary most of the time. Sad

It's normal! Hormones are tricky bastards. I've found myself crying inconsolably so many times during both pregnancies. Sometimes over ridiculous things, sometimes over small arguments etc.

Lou98 · 23/11/2020 21:26

This is definitely normal, I'm 14+1 weeks just now and been crying for weeks, at absolutely everything! I just can't control it!

Your hormones are going crazy at this point, don't be too hard on yourself, it can't be helped and remember it will pass soon🤞

Aww you're hormones are everywhere. I was crying and feeling so rubbish too!!!!! This is all normal. What you need is a hot water bottle, a good sleep and some nice breakfast. Stay strong it gets better. If you are worried then please speak to midwife who can offer you a little more support

I cry at literally anything and everything.

I’ll be driving to work and just start crying for no real reason. I cried the other day because I picked up my shopping bag and an orange fell out and rolled under the coffee table. I cried because my partner bought the wrong tea and I didn’t want it 😂 Hormones are an absolute bitch.

I hope you feel better soon. But the crying is completely normal.

ChunkyButFunky87 · 24/11/2020 09:50

The morning I had my DD 4 years ago I sobbed and I mean full on sobbed because my now hubby made me a crap cup of tea! Grin hormones are fun!

PolarBearStrength · 24/11/2020 13:27

Hormones are a bitch. I’ve always been really emotionally affected by my hormones and pregnancy made things a million times worse. Sertraline worked wonders for me when the crying and feeling low became uncontrollable. It might be worth considering if you think it’s becoming chronic rather than every once in a while.

JustAnotherUserinParadise · 24/11/2020 13:41

oh yes... I sobbed into my dinner like a three year old the other night because I was tired!

JustAnotherUserinParadise · 24/11/2020 13:41

^ this was at about 7pm btw!

Is it okay to go on depressants when pregnant? I feel like being pregnant may trigger my depression which is in my history but have been medication free for over a year now - I am 9 weeks and 2 days now - xxx

It's those pesky hormone changes! I cried at Lilo and Stitch the other night, and cried because I wanted salt and vinegar squares but DH had eaten them all (I live directly opposite a shop). I also cried because my toes were cold ... I am a mess at 10+ 3 x

MissSmiley · 24/11/2020 14:31

@YoungScrappyHungry how are you feeling?

PolarBearStrength · 24/11/2020 15:06

Largely speaking, SSRIs are safe. The minimal risks tend to be outweighed by the benefits.

Baker0104 · 24/11/2020 15:11

@TeaBanditTeej I'm on sertraline and pregnant as not taking them would be really bad for my mental health. I was on fluxetine before I was pregnant though and got moved onto the sertraline.

@YoungScrappyHungry I cried the other day because my boyfriend pretended he ate my chocolate bar. Its quite normal but if you're worried speak to your midwife x

PolarBearStrength · 24/11/2020 15:23

Sorry @TeaBanditTeej forgot to actually tag you! 😂

YoungScrappyHungry · 24/11/2020 20:53

Thank you all!
Today has been much better, I can't help noticing that I took a 10mg of citalopram this morning so am wondering if that is mostly it.
I was on 40mg for four years and tapered off with advice from my doctor when I found out I was pregnant, but now I'm thinking about risks vs benefits and I'm not sure it's the right time.

Thank you again for your support Smile

So glad to hear you're feeling better. Whenever you feel pants and need a non-judgmental ear to listen to.. please come back and have a chat! Always good to talk! Enjoy the rest of your evening and keep your chin up ☺️💜 xxxxx
