I have just found out I'm pregnant today but been having bad cramps for a few days now and having a lot of stomach troubles (diarrhoea) is this normal? I think I'm 2-3 weeks gone.

@JosieAbbott congratulations! And yes I thought I was having the worst period of my life, the cramps were so strong I was sleeping with a hot water bottle under my back. Found out I was pregnant after 4 days of this pain! Could just be your hormones with the diarrhea!

Congratulations and yes it is totally normal. I had the worst cramps and backache I've ever had plus so much flatulence. If you are in SE OP come and join us on the SE thread. All the best

Just told my partner and he's a bit nervous and is unsure what to do now. We have been trying since January this year. I'm 34 next month and he's 45. This will be our first child. How can I reassure him? X

I thought I was coming on due to cramps was convinced and OH was coming home with wine as I'd stopped drinking while trying. Decided to take a test just to be sure and it was postive.
I booked an early reassurance scan at peek a baby when I was 7 weeks which was great and totally put my mind at ease.
There's not much you can do for another few weeks as you're still quite early which I know is such an awful wait.

Cramping in early pregnancy is honestly sooooo normal, please don't worry Smile
Massive congratulations!
I highly recommend an early scan for reassurance. I would book for 7+ weeks to avoid any confusion with dates/measuring behind etc. It's a long anxious wait but you will get through it, I have just been there myself and I just tried to think 'what will be will be' while waiting, which helped

@JosieAbbott I had exactly that. They go on about constipation in PG but for the first trimester I definitely had the opposite more often! And I had awful cramps every day that sometimes would take my breath away. That was from 4 weeks and only started easing off at about 14 weeks. My midwife said it's not that common to have it so consistently or painfully but isn't unheard of and is probably the uterus expanding. Didn't stop it being worrying though - especially on the really painful days! It's a bit sore today and I'm now 21+2. FWIW I've had 2MC and both were less painful than this has been so I wouldn't see cramping on it's own as a bad sign. Cramping and any kind of tummy upset you can think of seem to be totally normal in PG.

It's a long wait until the 12 week scan. As others have said you could get an early scan privately. They let your partner in (he probably won't be able to go with you at 12 weeks under COVID). Seeing the baby on the screen might help your partner feel a bit more confident. Just be patient and don't go too soon - 7 weeks or later. You don't want to be left with uncertainty if they can't find a heartbeat because it's a few days too early.
