Pregnancy - council flat

I’m currently in a 2 bed council flat with my 10 year old daughter, who is registered as disabled.
I just found out I’m pregnant with my long term partner.
Can the council re-home us when the baby is born? Because my daughter is disabled and is unable to share a room and will need space, or is it the same regardless?
Are there different rules for disability?
We were placed in a flat 7 years ago because my daughter wasn’t diagnosed as being disabled then so I had no choice.

IIRC a baby under 12 months "doesn't count" when assessing for rooms. You will need supporting medical evidence showing that your older daughter needs her own room or the children will be expected to share.

In my area you can add baby to your application for a new house once they are born. It will depend on your area and demand for housing. I also have disabled older child that needs their own room and have been on the waiting list for a bigger house since my baby was born 10 months ago.

Sorry meant to add that we included medical evidence in our application so that gave us more points and we are entitled to 3 beds instead of 2.

Unless you can provide medical/social evidence that your child needs their own room you wouldn’t be able to enter back into the house register. If you have such evidence then your wait will be determined on where you live, the demands and how many other families could be ahead of you on the list. Also, you be restricted in terms of location if your child attends school. They could also tell you to look at the private rental market.

Yes you can be assessed as needing a three bed due to a disabled child unable to share but be aware three beds are usually the highest sought after type of housing so you could be in for a wait depending on your council or area with your council.
