Underwired bras - yay or nay?

Bit confused about underwired bras and if I'm allowed to wear them now?! I've seen info saying yes and info saying no... Does anyone know the actual answer? 🤔

Why would you not be allowed ('allowed')? It's all down to comfort - if they're comfy, do it. If they're not, don't.

If your usual wired bras are comfortable I'm sure that's fine Smile I did just that, then bought some new ones a cup size and two cup sizes up which were fine until about 14 weeks (I'm 16 weeks now, and three cup sizes up!! This is a novelty for me Grin).

I read the same thing as you early on and googled non-wired bras and thought nope!! I'm not ready for that Blush #vain. But now I'm a fan haha. ASOS have a good range!

I used to work in the lingerie dept at m&s about 15 years ago and back then they advised against under wired bras during pregnancy as they could cause problems when the milk ducts came in.

I don't know how true that is though..

I think it’s all about comfort. They recommend not going for underwired bras during pregnancy simply as advice. Some people need reminding that the non wired bra is an option I guess. I haven’t been comfortable in an underwired bra since about week 8. My boobs have grown in size and feel heavier. I’m finding a sports bra to be most comfortable as it holds them firmly without any sharp wires.
It’s a matter of personal taste and whatever suits you and your own boobs.

Wires are fine in the beginning of pregnancy but not recommended towards the end or for afterwards particularly if breastfeeding. As pp said the wires can cause problems with the milk ducts, cause them to be blocked and stuff like that. I usually hat no wires but during this pregnancy I’ve actually lived in them. Large chested so have to wear a bra all the time. They’re so much more comfortable than wired

Both precious pregnancies I’ve worn non wired. But I just hated the shape and felt super frumpy. This time I’ve kept wearing my wired ones through the day, with back extender inserts, and at night worn non wired/sleep bras. Boobs feel fine. I managed to feed both of my previous ones for a year, hoping for the same with this one.

Perfect thank you everyone! I've been wearing a wired bra and it feels so much nicer because my boobs are so sore and sensitive I need that closeness lol. I'll carry on until I'm a lot further along 😊

I decided to get a couple of non-wired ones to try. I've always avoided them as I hate the shape, but I actually found some that are quite nice, with a bit of moulding. In H&M, which don't usually have the best quality bras, but these have turned out well.
