Start spinning in pregnancy - what is it like when heavily pregnant?

Hi guys,
Basically I feel really unfit and don't want to get any more unfit! 16 weeks pregnant and want to do something now, just feel myself getting out of breath up the stairs etc much quicker than I used to.

I enjoyed spinning years ago and wondered about getting a bike and doing it at home. But because the bikes are expensive, will take up room in the house etc etc I'm trying to make sure it is definitely something I will do/worth the purchase and hopefully be able to do when nearing end of pregnancy.

Has anyone done spinning whilst pregnant who wasn't already doing it every week? Could you carry on until end of pregnancy? Even if you had to modify it slightly like slowing down, no standing sprints etc?

I was doing body pump couple times a week from home but not finding it very comfortable now and think cycling is low impact and a good idea...

Got a toddler and never alone, more so with covid and the restrictions, plus working from home too so without it being at home based activity in evening/rare nap time I don't really get to do anything else. We do go for daily walks but as people with toddlers know, it's either at a slow toddler pace or involves pushing a push chair with someone saying they want to get out all the time!

I was a keen spinner and cyclist when I got pregnant last year and carried on doing a couple of classes a week. I stopped cycle commuting quite early on, but carried on with the classes. Gradually slowed down until 7 months when I could no longer find a comfortable position on the bike. Standing was actually more comfortable (not sprinting).

I would get a bike - useful for home exercise after the birth, too, if you have enough space for it.

Posted too soon... if you’re not used to it then just have a play around with the settings and see what is comfortable.

@raeya currently 30 weeks and still managing to do a bit from home! I was a keen cyclist before pregnancy and have had to make adaptions and slow right down but I always think doing something is better than nothing and find I feel better mentally if I do anyway!

Thanks both for the replies. I'm definitely very inclined to get one after your positive comments. Something is definitely better than nothing! I do worry about the space it'll take up and getting annoyed with it but hopefully that is enough to spur me to actually use it!!

To be honest the advice is generally that continuing your usual exercise regime is fine so long as you were doing it before pregnancy - it's not advisable to take up a new exercise when you are pregnant? I really don't think I would risk it sorry - I'd wait to get one once baby has arrived
