Unstable Lie

Hi! Just wondering - has anyone been told their baby has an unstable lie before? I'm 36 weeks and my baby is still changing position. He's been head down in a few midwife appointments and then was breech during a placental scan a few weeks ago - he also went from breech to transverse during the scan 🙈. I can feel him moving around and he often changes position. I'm just concerned that we are getting near full term and he's still doing it! Because he was in the right position at my last check up, the midwife isn't concerned but I just have a gut feeling he isn't in the right position most of the time. I don't know what to do? I want them to ideally keep an eye on him because I don't want to end up getting to the birth and having to have emergency intervention. I'd rather just have a planned c section if he's constantly moving! Any help appreciated! Thanks

Mine does this, she's gone from transverse to head down to breech to head down. I'm now 37 weeks. I have another scan (unrelated) at 38 weeks so at least they will check where she is. My consultant was really panicky when she was transverse, but he was fine with her being head down at last scan. I would just mention it to your midwife again at next appointment and see if they will do a quick referral for a positioning scan if you're still worried.

Thanks @Hatepickinganame ! I do think I need a positioning scan as everyone always remarks how active he is during scans and check ups and I just don't see him staying in one position anytime soon! It does concern me. Thank you!

They do usually settle in one position, or so I keep getting told lol! I'm hoping she stays put.now but I don't even notice her flip around, she was breech on Monday and head down Tuesday, I never even noticed the change!

My DS, now 14, was like this. They were constantly struggling to work out if he was breech or not so I was scanned and he was. This was after the point where they are not supposed to alter their position any more, so I think around 36-37 weeks. They sent me up for an ECV and did a scan immediately before, which showed him head down. Nobody ever checked his position again after that. I was given a sweep at 10 days overdue and went in to the labour ward not long after with mild contractions. I'd been there a few hours when they decided to manually break my waters to speed things up. Thankfully, I had an epidural just before they did this (as they warned me things would get more painful pretty quickly) because when they broke my waters, I was already 7cm and the midwife realised that my son was in the breech position. They called for an EMCS and it was quite frightening as suddenly the room was full and everyone was moving very fast. They topped up the epidural and I had a C-section but was totally unprepared for it and found it quite traumatic.

@GanderousGoose this is what I'm afraid of! He moves so much - I think I'm just going to make sure everyone knows that I want them to check his position as I'd rather have a planned C Section than go through an emergency situation. Especially when it's something that could be avoided!

My second was like this, they even booked me in to have him turned, luckily he went head down before this and then I had him a week later at 38+5 so he didn't actually stay head down until 37+5 .

@GanderousGoose also a fear of mine. I desperately want to avoid a section but I would much rather a planned one than an emergency one. And this little wriggler moves all the time! When I had my head down scan, there was a very definite lump under my ribs that was her bum, and her legs were to my left and I could tell by the kicks after I knew if that makes sense, now she's bloody moved again, I'm getting a big lump in the middle towards the left and smaller little lumps (knees?) On my right. While I think (hope) she's still head down, I find it so hard to tell!
