Hello everyone, this is going to be a long one so apologies in advance!

My partner and I haven't exactly been actively trying, but we haven't been preventing either. I have never had regular periods in my entire life (I'm 26, nearly 27) and I've been on all sorts of different contraception. After going back on the pill when we first got together, I remembered how much I hated it and we decided that I would come off. This was around 2 months ago.

Anyway, after a week or two (I'm terrible with dates) of very sore breasts and me crying at the slightest thing I decided to take a pregnancy test on Monday just to rule it out. To my surprise it came back incredibly faint but I was positive!!!! Couldn't believe it!!!! Took another one and then a clear blue how many weeks to be sure, which stated 1-2 weeks.

Now I haven't had a period for months and months so don't really know when I would have conceived and not entirely sure how far along I am. I have spoken to the community midwife centre over the phone and have to wait for appointments to be posted through the door.

Basically I have no idea about pregnancy, never been around it, none of my friends are yet to go through it. I'm worried about EVERYTHING, foods I can/can't eat, how to keep my little seed healthy, what I can do until my appointments?! I'm just so scared! So really just any advice you can give a first time being pregnant EVER person.

Oh, and I'm a bus driver and work in a male dominated industry so don't really know how to navigate work in the coming months. Maybe I'm thinking ahead too much and need to get 12 weeks out the way first, I'm basically just scared and haven't slept since I found out!

Please help ladies with any advice you have!

Ok start taking folic acid immediately. Ask the chemist if you are unsure which one to get. Ditch alcohol fags etc. Eating for 2 is a bit of a myth. Don't go overboard with the food and eat 2 portions, just make sure u are having 3 healthy meals a day. Just generally be sensible and cautious but not to the extreme. Oh and be careful with cheese. Cheddar is fine and I think feta is also but lots of cheese aren't safe. Look on nhs website

Start taking pregnancy vitamins and folic acid very important for normal growth, regarding foods I have had 4 babies and to he honest there is nothing I didn't eat except not having runny eggs, eat plenty of fruit and veg lots of water not too much caffeine, and try to avoid stress. Congrats on your pregnancy. X

Congratulations :) The NHS Website is a godsend! It has easy to follow guides for what you should be doing, when to expect appointments, what you can't eat and so on..

I haven't told anyone, i'm waiting for my 12 week scan and will go from there. I'm sure that unless it's a risk to you and the baby, you don't have to inform your workplace until a certain time (but i'm not sure, sorry).

Try and relax as much as you can and good luck! xx

Update: I think I'm miscarrying. I've had some bleeding, getting heavier as time goes on and passing small blood clots. I've got stomach cramps and backaches and it's not looking good. Doctors won't refer me to EPU until I'm 6 weeks and we think I'm only 4 so got to sit and wait it out. It's not looking good but I'm hoping and praying with every ounce of my being that this is normal. My breast tenderness has also disappeared. I'm devastated 😔

Didn't want to read and run @busdriver12. Hope you're ok.
