Any wisdom from mums on what route to go with?

Microwave, steam and any other way I'm unaware of?

Thanks in advance

Milton bucket - cold water and milton solution. Change it once a day and just pull bottles out when you need then.

It's not for everyone but it's what we did.

Milton tank every time. Change the water every 24 hours and just take things in and out as you need them. So much less faff than a microwave steriliser (which is what I bought first time round).

Following the thread as I have the same question.

I used to work in a nursery that used Milton solution and never had any issue.

kyles101 · 16/11/2020 21:39

Mam bottles then no steriliser required - and they come apart completely so they're really easy to clean properly

PrayingandHoping · 16/11/2020 21:41

I have a tommee tippee
Steamer

I don't like cold water method. I used to work in a nursery and Milton will always splash clothes and u get pink spots

There are these new UV ones out. I would research those! But the TT steamer was fine

Another Milton fan here

FelicityPike · 16/11/2020 21:43

Milton here too!

ilovethecold · 16/11/2020 21:44

MAM bottles no steriliser needed

DieCryHate · 16/11/2020 21:45

I used Milton, and if I have another baby will happily use it again. Good for lobbing in the odd dummy or teat.

Mother2princess · 16/11/2020 21:45

Uv steriliser is what I'm getting this time

whatnow41 · 16/11/2020 22:01

I used the TT microwave steriliser right through until we were at 1 bottle a day. The issue was that once opened, the remaining bottles don't stay sterile for longer than 2hrs iirc. So I'd have to redo them again a few times once we were on around 4-6 bottles a day.

So I switched to a travel TT steriliser that was microwave or cold water with Milton. Really wished I'd just gone for cold water from the start, as it's so much easier for sterilising all the other things like dummy's, teething rings, first food spoons etc.

I still use it 9 years on to sterilise my moon cup Blush

mariebaby3 · 16/11/2020 22:34

cold water steriliser here too :) I tried a few but it was by far the easiest. I used the TT one with my first but will purchase the Milton one this time around.

Do you need to rince the bottles after using the Milton solution? I bought some sterilising tablets in asda and it says to rince the bottles with cooled boiled water on the instructions. It's really not convenient.

I never did, I just gave them a good shake... but this was 8 years ago so it may have changed.....

Milton here too, I had 2 plastic tubs on the counter near the sink, 1 with washed unsterilised bottles and one that was filled with fresh water and Milton tablet every morning, chucked 3 or 4 bottles, any dummies and teethers and such in the Milton then just took them out and shook them off as they were needed.

If I remember correctly a bottle needed to be in the solution for 20 minutes to be sterilised but they could be left in all day if you want.

Still use Milton tablets in the paddling pool in the summer to get a few days out of the water without it turning funky coloured.

Mine wouldn’t drink the milk if I’d used milton. I used mam bottles and sometimes the microwave sterilising bags.
