Dry mouth at night - 3rd trimester. HELP!

Is anyone experiencing the same thing? I am 33 weeks tomorrow with twins and my mouth is like the bloody Sahara desert at night 😩 I think it's because my nose is quite congested; that alongside not being able to breathe properly anyway means I am sleeping with my mouth wiiiide open (and also snoring like a bear wrestling a pig according to my DP 🤦🏼‍♀️).

I wake up 2-3 times to go for a wee and each time my mouth is so so dry - so I'm then drinking lots of water to get rid of the dryness, which then makes me need to pee more! The dry mouth though is just such a horrible feeling.

I'm assuming it's also down to the fact the air in the house is drier due to the heating being on more, so we bought a humidifier for the bedroom but it does naff all. 🙄

Is anyone else the same or just me?!

Yes.

I’m also inexplicably dribbling from one side of my mouth.

@MilsCookie
I spent my whole 1-2 trimester constantly dribbling. Now as I'm entering 3rd trimester, I've gone the complete opposite and my mouth is beyond dry - I'll wake up at night and my mouth and tongue will be bone dry!! Weird! X

WildBluebell · 15/11/2020 12:10

Yes, same. In my case it's definitely because my nose is congested and I can hardly breathe, so I breathe through the mouth at night.

There's nothing you can do about it really, as you can't use decongestants during pregnancy.

Glad to hear it's not just me, but sorry you're all suffering with the same thing!! I'm hoping it goes once babies are born!?!

Ha! I’m 38 weeks & experiencing this too.

I tend to keep a glass of water beside my bed for my dry mouth.

I'm also 33 weeks tomorrow too and I'm having the same problem needing water at night yet peeing 3-4 times throughout!! Not just you 😁

MilsCookie · 15/11/2020 16:56

Ahhh @FirstTimeMama36 snap!! Glad it's not just me 😅 although it's so annoying so I'm sorry you're having to deal with it as well!

@MilsCookie yes!! I'm 33+3 with twins and I am the same get up numerous times a night to go to the toilet and I have to have a bottle of drink next to the bed with me and when I get back from the toilet before I lay back into bed I have to have a drink cause I'm just gasping for fluid.. I drink well in the day so I'm not sure why it is.. I swear these kids are just draining me of every aspect of life at the moment 😂

FirstTimeMama36 · 15/11/2020 17:17

@milscookie I just keep saying the sleepless nights are just preparation 🤣 I'm currently waking up constantly throughout the night too never mind the drink and loo trips 🙄 so I'm more than organised for not sleeping when the baby's here 👍

@MilsCookie I was really congested last week and had sinusitis. I had antibiotics from my GP but the doctor at the Pregnancy Assessment Unit told me I could also use Sudafed ( the nose spray only no tablets) and Vicks vapour rub.

I hope this helps x

mariebaby3 · 15/11/2020 22:22

I’m much earlier but I’m getting a lot of congestion, dry mouth and throat etc. I bought a humidifier and it’s helped :)

MilsCookie · 15/11/2020 22:45

Oh wow @emma911030 I'm only a couple of days behind you! What type of twins are you having? Mine are mcda girls and they're actually coming a week tomorrow (scheduled c section) bang on 34 weeks cos one twin has sIUGR. Eek!!

Thank you @mariebaby3 @Poodlemum1 for the tips!! I have a humidifier but don't feel like it's really doing much. Do you put any oils in it as well or just water? Hope you're feeling better too now Poodlemum1, sinusitis is so horrible!

@FirstTimeMama36 I totally feel your pain. It's definitely helping prepare us for no sleep!!
