As the title says..... I've had 3 miscarriages and I always have a little spotting after sex while pregnant (I'm currently ttc) I know this can be cervical irritation.... Interested to know other mamas input on this with successful pregnancies. I'm wondering should I avoid sex next time 🙄

Yes, totally safe. Unless you're having sex with a horse, uterus and baby are no where in reach.

TheFoz · 12/11/2020 17:24

I’ve also had three miscarriages and worried about this but like pp said it’s perfectly safe. I’m 23 weeks now and usually have pink when wiping after sex but it’s very pale and one wipe and it’s gone.
Good luck ttc Flowers

I had 4 miscarriages so completely have avoided sex... Im 11 weeks so maybe after 12 weeks. I know sex doesn't cause miscarriage but im scared. Hmm

yarrow89 · 12/11/2020 21:42

All the sites including NHS say sex is fine, but I totally understand the worry and if you're thinking about it during the act you probably aren't going to enjoy it. However, there's loads of sex stuff you can do without 'thingy in hole' action (not sure how graphic I can be on this forum?). For example you can both masturbate each other or use toys either inside or outside. This might feel more comfortable or help you relax more and enjoy it. Have a browse through a site like LoveHoney, I'm sure there's options on there that you didn't even think were possible ;) and just think of those happy oxytocin hormones that would be released!

JTB123 · 12/11/2020 21:46

I've read it's completely safe but even if people only get 'pink bloody' and it's gone after one wipe it (which I've read a lot on these forums) it would still freak me the bell out and send me into an anxiety hole! I'm 20 weeks on Sunday and have had sex since my BPF and don't intend to until I give birth either 😂 husband is totally fine with that too!

rorosemary · 12/11/2020 22:29

It's safe but if you feel more comfortable to just not have sex then that's fine too.

Furbabymum15 · 14/11/2020 14:32

@Nimsay1 your reply made me lol..... Thankyou all for your input its good to have different views xx

Yes it's perfectly safe to have sex while pregnant. However the desire and the sex drive will vary from person to person, or couple to couple. Some women find their sex drive increases during pregnancy, while others find the exact opposite. Just try different things out at first and find what you are comfortable with doing while having a bun in the oven.

The Length of the penis should not have any effect and will stay away from the baby. I had sex during all 4 of my pregnancies and DH 's 9.5 Inch long penis probably came near, but still was a safe distance away from baby. Also if you love giving Head, that is an easy and enjoyable thing you can do throughout the pregnancy for both your partner and yourself. I gave HEAD to DH not every day, but pretty close to it during all 4 of my pregnancies (5 out of 7 days a week, and yes Ejaculate is perfectly safe to swallow if you choose to while pregnant, as it mainly consists of water, vitamins, and nutrients.

AnneLovesGilbert · 22/03/2021 18:57

It’s perfectly safe unless you’ve been told it’s not by your medical team. Pregnancy after losses is so nerve wracking but tbh having sex the whole through made me feel relaxed, happy and sort of normal when I was otherwise a cocktail of many drugs which felt very unnormal.

Go with your instinct when it happens. You might find pregnancy symptoms put you off for a while or the whole thing. Your hormones might go nuts and you’ll want it all the time. If it’s the latter and your partner is game then go for it.

DH 's 9.5 Inch long penis
😂 I've never met anyone who could tell you the length of their partner's penis before!

Screwcorona · 22/03/2021 19:04

I've been reassured it's fine, but have decided not to. I have issues with my cervix and had a miscarriage last time. Other countries recommend no sex with cervical problems or bleeding so I'm going with that

TheVanguardSix · 22/03/2021 19:05

I was advised not to when I was bleeding in pregnancy with DC2. I did miscarry right during sex which was pretty awful and traumatic.
Sex in pregnancy is safe! But if you are prone to spotting/bleeding after sex, to be honest, I'd ditch the penetrative sex and explore other options.

Ejaculate is perfectly safe to swallow if you choose to while pregnant, as it mainly consists of water, vitamins, and nutrients.

I'll stick with berocca, thanks. Grin

Jesus. You and me both. Grin And I never knew 'ejaculate' was so nutrient-rich to boot... and hydrating apparently.

Actually berocca says not to take it during pregnancy so semen is probably better.

OP I thought sex was fine unless you have a reason not to? Do you think it’s worth speaking to a doctor?

I am twenty weeks with my second and cannot get enough, DH will be disappointed post birth when my libido returns to normal.

I actually stopped reading after the penis length comment, I'm howling reading the rest now! 🤣

Sparechange · 22/03/2021 19:19

I had bleeding caused by a sub-chorionic haemorrhage, and was advised not to have any sex until it was fully resolved (which was about 22 weeks, I think)

The risk factor was orgasms as much as actual sex.

Sex was a risk because when you bleed, the cervix is open slightly and there is therefore an infection risk (I was told no swimming and no baths for the same reason)

Orgasms are a risk because of the mild contractions which can cause a sub-chorionic to get bigger and cause a miscarriage.

I’m not a scaremongering but it’s not always ‘perfectly safe’. It’s probably safe, but most people don’t know they’ve got a SCH until they start to bleed heavily

Dino-Hat :

There was a medical study done out of Australia that I came across years ago during my first pregnancy, as I was genuinely curious as to if I could continue to Swallow while giving head during pregnancy.

The study not only assured that there was no harm to baby, but that it technically could be beneficial because of the vitamins, nutrients, and proteins that largely make up it's content, and even Healthy for the the baby while growing in the uterus.

Yes, for most even the thought of swallowing during pregnancy is just unfathomable, it all depends on if it's something you enjoy doing regularly anyhow. I gave head during all 4 of my pregnancies almost every day (prob 5 out of 7 days a week) right up until the day before I went into labor and all my boys turned out really healthy. They were very healthy babies.

ScarfaceCwaw · 22/03/2021 19:29

@VaryCherry, are you sponsored by the Semen Eaters association or something? I don't think anyone asked about the precise length of your DH's penis. Or to be told (twice) about exactly how many days a week you gave head (and swallowed) in your previous pregnancies. Because that's a thing people need to know, and is totally relevant to this topic.

Fair Enough....

Sceptre86 · 22/03/2021 19:35

In a regular pregnancy with no bleeding sex is safe. If you had an incompetent cervix and the cervix was shortening or if you were bleeding then the recommendation is to avoid.

I'm sure your boys will be interested to know you swallowed semen whilst pregnant with them as you have had no issues sharing that information with strangers @VaryCherry. Not quite sure how you think it was relevant to op's original postHmm

My response surrounded berocca a being safe in pregnancies. The label says not to.
