Hi, I have a blood test next week with the midwife... is this routine and what’s is it for she just booked me in for it at my booking in appointment and I took in so much info I forgot to ask what it was for. Any ideas?

Yes it’s normal, they just check blood group, iron levels, rhesus etc

What the previous poster said. I'd try to eat plenty of food containing iron if poss op as if your iron levels are found to be low they could put you on iron pills that sometimes have side-effects e.g constipation and black poo. I'm not trying to scare u, just offer advice. Congratulations Thanks

P.s there are several blood tests so this won't be the one and only.

I have mine tomorrow. It’s all routine to check for different things, blood type etc.

Bit worried now about the iron levels and side effects of the tablets 😂

Oh dear sorry I didn't mean to worry anyone! My friend had the tablets and was totally fine.

Thanks, oh dear I’ll need to get my iron levels up then. I’ll have a look online see what foods help with this. Thank you.

I had banana milkshakes with a handful of raw spinach added. It sounds gross but I swear I could never taste the spinach! It really helped me personally. I also ate plenty of eggs and had a glass or orange juice after.

Great thank you, sounds good to me :)
