Just that really. First baby and having a planned c section tomorrow. Telling myself it will be ok but am really nervous... mainly about feeling sick/passing out from spinal and something going very wrong. Can anyone reassure me/have any advice/tips?

Oh my goodness how exciting you will meet your baby tomorrow!!

Mine was fantastic!
Radio on in the corner of the room, spinal went really well, took about 15 minutes to do, no pain or discomfort, no fainting or collapsing because they have monitors on you you see & get you laid down before your blood pressure can drop.
I was also given an anti sickness medication into my drip at the start so no sickness either.
In fact that cup of tea and hospital toast was Devine as soon as it was all done and I was settled back into my bed...Devine!

Best bit was I was home within 24 hours.
I was able to breast feed almost immediately, it was great.

I had two planned CS after a ventouse with my first and honestly, the CS were great. No problems with the anaesthesic, it was lovely to be awake and pain free for the delivery, I was able to breast feed straight after, and I was up and walking, had a shower, etc the following morning. I recovered far more quickly after the CS and if I was to have another pregnancy (too old now!) I would definitely go for a CS again.

Good luck, I know it's hard to keep calm, but look up breathing exercises, they really help me when I'm nervous. Keep thinking about the beautiful baby you'll have in your arms tomorrow!

EMCS with my first, planned c-section (my choice) with my second. Very positive experiences. You will be fab. Planned sections are a particularly calm experience I think. How exciting you’re going to meet your baby tomorrow!

I had an emergency c section. Throughout my pregnancy a c section was the one thing that I really really didn't want to happen - I'm very squeamish and was convinced I'd faint or freak out. It turned out to be the best part of my birth!!!
The team were so so lovely and very reassuring and accepting of how I felt - they didn't try and minimise or brush aside my concerns and were able to keep me calm throughout.
I did feel a little bit sick but they're totally prepared for that to happen - you have the anaesthetist sitting next to you talking to you the whole time and the minute you say you feel sick they will administer some anti sickness medication to help.
I think for a planned section you can ask to have your own music playing so may be worth asking if that might help?
I would just say be really honest with them about how you feel so that they talk it though with you - it's really normal to feel anxious - it is pretty significant surgery!!!
If I had another baby I would definitely go for an elective and I never thought I'd say that in a million years. As soon as your lovely baby is out you won't give any of it a second thought.
Good luck and let us know how it goes 😊

Same as the others said, the anti sickness medication is good. I said "oooh, I have a slightly funny taste in my mouth" and they turned the medication up very quickly just in case.

They do lots of planned sections every day, and even lots of emergency ones so have lots of practice. They're amazing.

Ahh thanks all, you made me feel a lot better! @Pickypolly good to know I can have anti sickness medication before. Glad you all had such good experiences x

Just an update to say all went fine and my baby girl arrived safely this morning. Such a relief. Bit sore but hopefully go home tomorrow. Thank you to all for the reassurance!

Wow op, congratulations! You must feel so relieved!

Massive hugs

(press a pillow to your tummy when you get up, it puts less pressure in your incision!)

Oh Give - of I could have those first few hours with my new baby back I would take it in a heartbeat!. Enjoy your baby. Take your time with everything - you have min 18 years. No point in rushing!!
