Hey

I'm 21 weeks and starting to experience PGP.

Has anyone experienced it and it didn't last your whole pregnancy?

I know we are all different but I'm just after a glimmer of hope that this isn't my life for the next 20 weeks😫

Any at home tips to ease pain welcome too.

Thank you

Pelvic partnership website.

Mine started this pregnancy around 8 weeks. Was on crutches at 25 weeks last time. But it did get 95% better within days of my daughter being born.

I'm currently 19 weeks (18, according to my dates and the fact that I don't believe this is an immaculate conception). I see an osteopath every couple weeks, but honestly, I can see crutches in my (near) future...

Currently 36 weeks and have crutches just for the evenings. Best advice I’d give is speak to your Dr/Midwife as soon as possible... there isn’t much they can do but I do wonder if I’d asked for help earlier rather than leave it until the pain became unbearable would I have been able to get more advice or exercise to stop it getting so bad.
I’ve been told it does go away quite quickly after baby is here but have also been referred to physio (though my midwife believes with waiting times/COVID it’s unlikely I’ll even be seen until after baby’s here!)
Hope you feel better soon!

Hmm well mine keeps flaring up for a couple of weeks then settling down for another couple... So it's been painful since 11 weeks ish (now 25), but not constantly - that's been maybe 3 "episodes", and just a little bit of a dull ache in between.

I'm afraid mine lasted for the duration of my pregnancy and beyond but that doesn't seem to be everyone's experience so fingers crossed it eases for you.
I went to a physio class which gave me some good tips on how to move to reduce strain. My midwife referred me so definitely mention it to your midwife if you haven't already. Get lots of rest. Sleep on top of a spare duvet if you find your pain worsens at night. Also sleeping with a pillow between your knees can help.

I’ve just posted this on another thread about PGP, you may benefit:

I'm 27 weeks and I have pretty bad PGP. It does sound like your symptoms are PGP and I do think you need to get it looked at rather urgently.

I've been going to an osteopath who also does acupuncture, but that is expensive. My midwife has also referred me to a physio to help me out, I suggest you do the same ASAP.

What I've learned is that:
PGP should go after birth.
Walk slowly, avoid standing, heavy lifting etc.
Ice packs on the pelvis area or heat (hot water bottle) to your inner thighs to relieve pressure on your muscles that connect to your pelvis.

It is the everyday activities that are aggravating it, so you will need to be more mindful such as, sitting down when putting on your shoes. Sitting down when changing your underwear, trousers etc. Basically, no standing on one leg.
Moving in bed, keep your knees together.
Moving in and out of the car, keep your knees together.
Keep doing pelvic floor exercises or find adapted yoga poses suitable for PGP (which mean keeping your knees together).
Paracetamol if you're in pain.
Epsom salt baths are really nice too, but be careful getting in and out of the bath (knees together).

Order a pelvic support belt from amazon, mine was £13 pounds and worth every penny. Wear it when you're moving around, take it off, or loosen it when you're seated.

It likely won't go away before childbirth but you can do things to manage it until birth. Take it easy, ask for help, and keep your knees together.

I hope that helps

Thanks everyone XXX

After feeling sorry for myself I've gone into action mode - ordered a ball, will order a belt, asked them to refer me to a physio and being more mindful of how to move everyday like keeping legs together.

I guess one plus of lockdown is nowhere to go!

Another thing I read was to limit driving where you can. I feel it more after lots of driving so that makes sense to me in case a newbie is reading.

Good luck everyone!
