Hello Everyone!

Looking for a bit of advice or people at similar stages!

So I am 4weeks 1day today and 13dpo. Day 30 of cycle. Firstly I’m not sure when my missed period will be as this is my second month off the pill - last cycle was 27 days and I’m now day 30...

I would love to know when you all felt confident and excited? I am cautiously excited at the moment! Absolutely delighted but a little nervous.

Also more for those in Scotland...how does appointments work. Called my GP today and they are now saying they don’t see me I just fill out a self referral online. I’ve have completed this...just wondering when someone got in touch, when was first appointment etc.

Many thanks!

Congratulations! I usually felt confident and excited once I was a week or two past viability stage, so around 27 weeks.

@JulyPumpkin Congratulations Smile I’m in Scotland too and for me I didn’t hear from anyone until about 8 weeks - they phoned and gave me an time for my “booking in” appointment with the midwife which I’m pretty sure was at about 9.5/10 weeks. That appointment was held over the phone - she just called and asked a load of questions then I was sent an appointment for my 12 week scan and after the scan they took me to a room and done all my booking in measurements (height, weight, blood pressure, urine sample and took bloods) and then gave me away my notes.

I still haven’t started feeling confident yet...and I’m 39.5 weeks 🙈 just always a bit nervous. We told immediate family early (around 8 weeks) as it was right as we went into lockdown and at the time they were classing pregnancy as “high risk”. Didn’t tell any friends or extended family until after our 20 week scan. Started shopping for bigger items from around 26/27 weeks I think 🤔
You’ll get a load of mixed responses on when to feel comfortable. I say just go with however you feel at the time 😊 The mistake I made was always believing the next check up/milestone would make me confident 😂 that didn’t happen! Was sure I’d be fine after 12 week scan - nope 😂 20 week scan? Nope 😂 once I can comfortably feel baby moving about? Definitely not - you then worry if they’re moving enough 😂 Theres always something going on in the back of your mind so you just need to enjoy everything as much as you can 😊

Congratulations! I’m scotland too. I did my self referral when I found out, had a phone call the same morning to confirm some details and was told someone would be in touch around 8 weeks. Got a letter for my booking in appointment at 8+3 which was yesterday, and now have access to the app for future appointments.

I'm NHS ggc in Scotland, about 10 weeks and dont feel confident yet! I suspect I wont until well into second trimester

Queenbee95 · 29/10/2020 09:17

It really depends on area. I’m in Edinburgh and my booking appointment was face to face. I have my next appointment at the end of November with the midwife and that’s face to face also

@RWK29 Thank you so much for your message it's helped knowing what the process is here!
Bless you - I imagine I will be the same. I have heard that's the way and you will always be worried about something throughout their whole lives so just be excited. So I am trying!
Wishing you all the best when the time comes!

@swiftt Hello! Thanks - that's great. Done the self-referral so hopefully I shall get a call soon. I guess I just thought there would be a reassurance check sooner! Congratulations too!

@TheDaydreamBelievers I think you are right! Once we see it on the scan!

@Queenbee95 Yes I had heard they were going back to face to face appointments but who knows with everything that's going on!

Thanks everyone :)

I know @JulyPumpkin - it surprised me that there isnt more contact to 1) reassure and 2) make sure you are taking all the right vitamins, have stopped smoking and drinking! The NHS is quite bare bones though I guess, especially now. I also think they are quite hands off in first trimester because if things go wrong there really isnt much they could do
