Plus size ladies? When did you start to get a bump...

Hello!

I am 11+3 and let me point out... NOT expecting a bump anytime soon haha but thought I’d get some ideas..

I am comfortably size 18 (even tho my jeans have started to nip... so channelling my Regina George from Mean Girls and ‘sweatpants are all that fits me right now’ 😆). I also have a B belly shape already (where my tummy goes in at the belly button, looks like my BB has a hat on!! Hate it but what can I do now)

So, was wondering whether any other plus size ladies could share their experience of when they started to get a bump? I have fears everyday of not looking pregnant when I get further on!

Also... if anyone has a suggestion about where to get comfy skinny maternity jeans, please holla! I normally buy curve and plus size range stuff (I have a big butt and big boobs as well!) but by the looks of things, shops seem to think only average sized women get pregnant 😐

Tried a couple of size 18 maternity jeans and they didn’t go past my thighs.. can promise you I haven’t put any weight on!

What you’ve said makes more sense. I’ve heard women taking it for a variety of indications and I think it’s pretty harmless overall, it’s just that the conversation was all “you’re very low risk” until BMI was mentioned - and I’m not even sure the measurements were accurate as I’ve not weighed myself for weeks (was a telephone appt) and then all of a sudden it was aspirin and extra tests and scans

Yeah I had the same @mouldygrapes you’re not alone.. don’t worry about BMI, they’re just going my a graph and it’s just extra precaution. I also will be getting extra scans and have been on higher dose folic acid.

My midwife told me I’m low risk too, despite being consultant led. I am still able to give birth in the usual maternity unit (so far anyway - things could change as pregnancy progresses).

Reach out to me at any time if you have any concerns or have a rant, just to ensure we’re both not alone!

@mouldygrapes I've been buying them from Lloyds pharmacy, £1.59 for 100 75mg tablets, so you'd need to have 2 a day. I refuse to use a prescription for items that are cheaply available over the counter.

This is our little baby at 12wks+3. Active, happy and apparently a little naughty 😂 look at that long leg!

Had to tell people not to start guessing girl or boy as we are wanting a surprise and I’ll be beside myself if people start guessing 😂

We had a very stubborn little bean! I had to go for a walk, a jiggle and a cold drink as they couldn't get it to look up for the measurements. Kept doing somersaults though!! They've put me back a few days but I think it's because it wouldn't unfold itself! So I've been dated at 11+5 and due 19th May. So reassuring to see it jumping around though!

We have too mischievous little babies I think 😂
Ours just would not sit still, every time they went to freeze the frame, it moved again haha! It was jumping as if it was on a trampoline.

How mad is it that they are moving all over like that but we can’t feel anything yet? She said to me that this baby is gonna have my life kicking when it’s time ha ha.

@BessieBye I think we're going to have our hands full 🙊 but it's so amazing isn't it! I couldn't believe how much it was dancing and jumping around yet I can't even feel a thing!

Thought I’d give an update to any ladies who come across this thread searching for the same thing I searched for... please don’t worry about being plus size, B belly, weight gain... I’m 99% sure you will all fall in love with your bump like I did. This is me at 12wks vs 33wks!
Currently 39 weeks today and waiting impatiently for his or her arrival!

It’s normal for it to vary a lot - I’m not plus size and mine didn’t show properly until about 25 weeks. Then it suddenly popped and now at 28 weeks it’s super obvious! I could definitely have hidden it until a few weeks ago!
